Our House…Come On In! September 22, 2011
As you might recall, my father passed away recently. Compared to my Mother’s passing, when I sobbed for what seemed like weeks, I’ve taken my Dad’s passing much better. I imagine it’s because he was 89 and had lived such a wonderful, long life. Who knows?
My four siblings and I made a quick decision to place my parents’ home of forty plus years on the market, concerned about the real estate market and upkeep. The home sold much faster than anticipated and we recently met to take turns, picking our favorite pieces in their beautiful home.
I’ve had a chance to find special places for these things they loved and thought I take you on a tour, room, by room, to show you. In many ways, our tastes are very similar, so their things fit into our home, as though I had picked them myself.
So today, we’ll begin, appropriately in the entry of our home. Welcome!
Remember the olive jars I was admiring over at Veranda Antiques? Well, we adopted them and found the perfect spot for them, flanking our front door.
They keep the Scottish street scenes, from my parents, company.
This great print from my husband’s uncle had this amazing “beaded” trim around the matting, that the picture framer was able to preserve, when he refurbished it.
Of course Tyler, our collie/son, was sad to learn…
…that the bronze dog wasn’t really real. He can still dream though!
As you may know, I love dogs, but horses were my first love. I never had one as a girl, but back then, I was sure it was just a matter of time!
Well, that’s it for today. Stay tuned for more, soon! (And thanks, Mom and Dad, if you’re looking over my shoulder!)
Barbara I am so sorry to hear of your Father’s passing. I am happy that you have some very special mementos from your parents lives.
xoxo

Thank you… I’m confident that he’s in a wonderful place!
Nice memories that you will cherish and pass along, and will be passed along. That is the way life should be. Brilliant details on
the matting of the Scottish prints!
I am so sorry to hear about your Father’s passing, but I hope that when you see the things you remember from their home, it brings back happy memories. What interesting beading on those pictures and those olive jars are really amazing…
Thanks, Jane and Barbara. Yes, it feels like they’re here, “with me”.
