Dreams of Touring the Paris Flea Market January 18, 2012
As a regular reader of Velvet and Linen, I stumbled upon an older post about her visit to the Paris Flea Market last summer.
It was one of the most inspiring blog posts ever. It just made my imagination run wild! You can see the post by clicking here.
The beautiful pictures made me feel as though I’d been transported there and was walking the streets.
The Paris Flea Market is the largest flea market in the world and after 150 years, it’s probably one of the oldest!
So, that got me thinking…there must be guided tours of this wonderful market, and after looking on-line, I found that there are a number of options, from local, English speaking guides to an antique shop in Texas that offers several guided tours to both the Paris flea market and Provence.
Oh, the fun I could have! Before you knew it, my imagination was running absolutely mad. In my fantasy, my French speaking girlfriend and I would become experts of the market after a few trips and then start our own tour business! While unlikely, isn’t fun to think of the “what if’s” of life and ask “why not”?
What are you dreaming about?
J’irai avec vous — j’aime le marché aux puces de Paris. (I’ll go with you — I love the Paris flea market!!)
It’s on the list! Gotta do it. Wouldn’t it be a blast?!!
I was lucky enough to go to Porte de Clignancourt several times when we lived there. Visiting friends would want to go and I bought a few things there, too. I could entice my husband to come with me by the few good restaurants. But that was when our dollar was stronger against the franc and then euro. This makes me want to go back!
Just saw this while reading the post on La Dolfina. My husband and I are flying to Paris tonight for two weeks. We are renting an apartment on Ile Saint Louis. On the agenda are trips to the Paul Bert flea market and the one at Vanves which is smaller.
You are going to have so much fun!! I’ve never been to the market…it’s on the list! Have a wonderful time and find lots of goodies!
Nice place!
