Coffee Table Make-Overs at The Treasured Home September 15, 2014
Do you have a loving relationship with your coffee table?
If you’ve been shopping Restoration Hardware or any better furniture stores, you’ll see plenty of coffee tables on the floor for $1,000 and more.
Everything in this room is an antique, or at least vintage, except for the sofa, pillows and window coverings. While the sofa cost me a year’s allowance, the coffee table was purchased at an estate sale, for next to nothing.
In any living or family…great room…the coffee table is an important anchor. The size, shape and “weight” of the piece, should be in proportion to the rest of the furniture pieces.
This coffee table, was originally pale yellow, with a significant shine and some notable chips on the edge and top of the table. But I loved those legs!
See what I mean? Yep. True love!
The table first and foremost, needed a paint job. I was just concerned about filling the nicks and recreating a perfectly smooth surface. So I took the path of least resistance and purposely textured the table top, with embossing cream. The table ended up with a fairly flat finish and I’m happy with the finished product.
Do you love your coffee table? (Formerly referred to as cocktail table, if you’re old enough to remember!)) If not, we might have what you’re looking for.
I used the same process, on this piece, as I used on the table at home. It’s one of a kind and I love the detail around the side of the table! I believe it’s about 36″ in diameter.
Next up on the hit parade, is a glass topped table, that we repainted recently. Clean and simple, with a modern vibe. Probably 36″ square.
Finally, this beauty is just 32″ square, with a handy drawer tucked underneath. Traditional. Timeless. Perfect.
The best news of all, is that all of our coffee tables, are priced less than $300! If you’d rather create your own masterpiece, I can’t say I blame you. Let us know if we can help!
They are all so very beautiful !!!
