Lake Tahoe in the Fall October 22, 2014
In the past, there were just two seasons, at Lake Tahoe. Summer, for boating and warm weather at the beach. Winter, for snow skiing. Simple as that!
Now that we’re at the lake so much, we’re finding that fall is really drop-dead-gorgeous!
Who says we don’t have beautiful fall color? This is a photo of Squaw Valley, on our way to pick up our season passes on Monday. We are getting tons of snow this year, aren’t we? This drought needs to be over!
Even though the ski season at Squaw Valley starts in about a month, I don’t know when I’ll find the time! One year, Bob and I skied on Halloween, but usually the best skiing doesn’t happen until January, so I’ll get there! There’s also a little resort, just a mile or so from the house, called Homewood, that I hear great things about. You can’t beat the location and when you ski, you have a wonderful view of the lake!
This is the reclaimed wood flooring that we ordered on Monday. We’re hoping to have it installed in time for Christmas, when the kids are here, but it’s going to be a close call!
Bob’s painting the walls in what we call “the apartment” upstairs and I’ll be doing a two-tone wash, in the darkest color, seen above, on all the cabinets. (And there are lots of cabinets!)
Back at the shop, Christmas goodies are arriving all the time! By the time we had this delivery under control, I hear a truck, with another pallet, in the back alley. If you like our jewelry, Diane spent about 4 hours, pricing out a ton of it today! While we’ve been seeing Christmas in the big-box stores for some time, we won’t officially kick off the holidays, until our party on November 13th
But just between you and me, we’re putting things out on the floor, as they’re ready. We’re also joining Jesuit’s Christmas Tree Lane again this year, the first of December. Once that’s behind us, I can focus on getting ready for the kids, visiting for Christmas. I’m thrilled they’ll be with us!
Speaking of the holidays, we’ve painted some hand made wrapping paper, on craft paper. Yes, we’re crazy! Tons of paper and matching tags, $9.50!
Finally, in case you didn’t see this, one of our students, Kathleen, sent a before and after photo, of her class project. Pretty wonderful, eh?
Until we meet again, stay out of trouble!
Your trees are gorgeous…so are ours. Hubby and I have gone for several drives in the state…and I think this is the most color we’ve ever had! ‘Course after that Polar Vortex thingy last winter….Mother Nature probably thought we deserved a gorgeous fall! The lake house is taking shape..good for you…now stop reading this….and get back to work! Time’s a wasting! 😉
Barbara…the sunset on the lake is gorgeous!…You must have a very hard time leaving the lake house whenever you visit..I would!…Love the flooring!!!
