Trend Watch: Otomi Fabric Has Gone Wild January 16, 2012

I have been hearing and seeing so much talk lately about Otomi fabric. While I had seen the pattern, I didn’t even know it’s name, until now. It’s finally getting the recognition it should! It’s timeless and simply beautiful.
I found Jane at Empress of the Eye, talking about hand-stitched Otami recently on her blog, along with an introduction to Spoonflower, a company that will create your fabric designs. They’re offering “Otomi” design replicas on easy to care for fabric! Amazing!

Low and behold, this morning, Abode Love, has just finished copying and carefully painting Otomi figures on a DIY headboard, with a friend!

Besides taking a trip to Mexico, I see Otomi Fabric for sale on eBay. I think that the prices are reasonable, considering the massive amount of hand stitching involved. But for high traffic spots or pieces, like pillows, ottomans and headboards, Spoonflower is possibly the way to go! It’s certainly going on my shopping list!

So what do you think? Are you a fan? Do you know of any other good resources for these wonderful handmade pieces, other than eBay? Care to share?

Enjoy your day!

      Hi again, Sherry,
Thanks for stopping by! I’ll be in Atlanta in June for the Haven blog conference. I hope I get a chance to check out Scott’s while there. Just think of the money you save, with no one working in their booths! 🙁
