There’s still time to register for Sunday’s Free Demo Day!

By Barbara Bussey | May 3, 2023 |

Greetings, oh creative one! I just wanted to let you know that there’s still time, to sign up for Sunday’s Free Demo Day, featuring Fusion Mineral Paint! When I first started painting furniture, many moons ago, there was a lot of trial and error! I eventually had a chance to learn from some pretty masterful painters, but it would have saved a lot of frustration, if I had learned first and then painted!  Don’t get me wrong, nothing is better than practice, when it comes to just about any new endeavor, but having a foundation to work from is certainly…

Travel tips and good times, in France!

By Barbara Bussey | April 26, 2023 |

Bonjour! Hello friends!  We’re back from a wonderful two weeks in France!  I was joined by dear friends and shop sisters, Linda and Darlene, plus, Jeanne, (who owns Little Bird Mercantile in Auburn) and Texas friends, Tinker and Carol. Unlike many of you, my husband has no interest in visiting Europe.  Fortunately, he’s always encouraged me to travel and I’ve found groups of women, over the years, to travel with. I thought I’d take this opportunity to share some favorite spots to see, as well as travel tips, if you’re ready to venture out! Group tours: If you’re new to…

Wishing you Easter blessings!

By Barbara Bussey | April 8, 2023 |

Hello, buttercup! Happy Easter! I was just going down Memory Lane, remembering childhood Easters. I wish I had a couple of pictures to share, of us five kids, dressed for church, with our baskets!  My mother was an avid seamstress, back in the 60’s and she usually managed to whip up new Easter dresses for church, that special day. That was back when we wore hats, too!  Anyway, I have to hand it to my mother, sewing clothes and managing a household with five kids!  Thanks, mom! Bonjour! Tomorrow morning, Darlene, Linda, Tink, Carol, Jeanne and I, will  be taking…

There’s lots going on at the shop!

By Barbara Bussey | April 3, 2023 |

Hello, princess! I hope you’ve been soaking up the blue skies, these last few days, like I have!  I walked Micah this morning, so thankful for blue skies and the birds singing! It’s been busy, here at The Treasured Home, so let’s get started! More kimonos arrived, and our Linda makes a beautiful model! Mr. Wonderful and I took a quick trip, up to Lake Tahoe, on Thursday afternoon.  We wanted to make sure the place was still standing!  Thankfully, everything was in good shape…but look at our “lake view”! We are guessing that there will be snow on the…

Happenings at the shop, this week!

By Barbara Bussey | March 29, 2023 |

Hello, good looking! Thanks to all of you who joined our Demo Day, last Sunday!  We were happily packed with smiling, creative faces.  Now that I’ve finally “cracked the (Inlay) code”, I’m making plans on my next project…a beautiful antique buffet, that will get this beauty on it’s center drawers. The inlay is called “Summer Villa” and I’m excited! Before that happens, this piece needs a bit of prep work. Not my favorite part of the process, but just as important as any other step. So, stay tuned! Just finished… I found this piece on Facebook Marketplace, in great shape…

Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

By Barbara Bussey | March 16, 2023 |

Are  you feeling Irish, today? I’m what I’ve heard to be Heinz 57.  According to my limited ancestry research, I’m mostly of Western European origin.  There’s a dab of Irish in me, but who needs that, to enjoy corned beef and cabbage? I remember as a kid, going to Catholic school, there was no green on my uniform and I had no cute pony tail with a green ribbon, like some lucky girls. ???? So, a few of us would say we had green underwear, knowing that it was a safe bet, no one would see my knickers!  Silly story,…

Spring is one week away and I’m growing gills!

By Barbara Bussey | March 13, 2023 |

Hello, dear heart! At this point, I’m so thankful for every gorgeous ray of sunshine! How about you? Do I even need to ask?  One thing’s for sure, our lakes and reservoirs will be full, this spring.  I just wish there were a few more reservoirs, to contain more of this beautiful rain water! This is our igloo house, at Lake Tahoe, before some wonderful men started to remove lots of snow from the roof, this past week! Bob sent me this photo and I couldn’t figure out where it was taken.  Then he told me that it was taken…
