Focus…Plus a Fun & Inspiring Link Party to Join January 17, 2012
I’m not sure if you’ve ever read a sweet blog, called www.theletteredcottage.net, but they’re hosting an unusual link party called Word often Year.
The idea is to pick a word and keep it in plain sight throughout the year; on the refrigerator door, in your sock drawer, on your car’s dashboard. A constant reminder to growing a better life, a better me.
Here in Blogland, we’re all avid readers and writers. Words are a part of our life. They represent us. They can also bring us closer, or push us farther away from one another. Studies have also proven the power of self-talk, so I decided to join in the party. I came up with several “runner up” words. But the word I decided on is “focus”.
It’s so easy to lose focus…at least for me. Both In my business and personal life. If I have too much on my “plate”, the list becomes diluted and little seems to be accomplished. At the beginning of the new year, I decided to create a 3-3-3 Plan. Just 3 goals for my business. 3 goals for me, personally and 3 goals for my marriage. Once the short list is completed, a new list is created.
So, how’s it going so far? Honestly? Well, not as well as I’d like. This is where “focus” comes into the story. Not only do I need to keep the word focus “center stage”, but I also need to keep my short lists clear and highly visible.
Because the truth is that there are only so many hours in a day, to make my home the nurturing and peaceful place I want it to be. There is just a limited amount of time I have to spend each day with My Love For Life, in our empty nest and there are only certain products and services I can provide through my business. I can’t be everything to everyone, so I need to do what I do well and what I’m passionate about and good things will follow.
What about you? Whether or not you join the link party, what would you choose for your “word of the year”? Go ahead…there are just 4 more days to join the party!
Best to you,,
Barbara
I love your choice of words. Yesterday I was so overwhelmed with our move that “focus” wasn’t even possible! But today I have caught the bug and have made a lot of progress. I love it when that happens. 🙂 I wish you luck with your goal! With all of our life changes going on, I have no personal goals other than getting us to the USA and enjoying the ride along the way. 🙂
Moving is one of the most challenging things on earth! My heart goes out to you! Think of the adventure you’ve had and the one just ahead. And drink wine!
So you have NINE goals. You are so impressive! I like how you broke them down. I’ll have to “focus” on mine.
One can always hope!
Simplify and
Organize
I’m doing a BANG up job of simplifying and organizing, and only 18 days into the New Year. Feels great, the organization and simplifying is very calming, and I’m happy! Good luck with all those goals.
Come help me! I need to simplify!
hi, I like your word! It’s a word I put on my list of possible words for 2012. In the end I chose another word but I will keep it on my list in case I choose to use it another year! I posted about my word on my blog if you wish to read it! 🙂
I’ll certainly check it out! Thanks for stopping by?
Best to you,
Barbara
