Well, the pressing question today is, will we call this year twenty-thirteen or two-thousand-thirteen? Enquiring minds want to know! I finished resurfacing the top of this antique farm table over the weekend, thanks to my friends at Min-Wax and hours of sanding with my new power sander! It was the first time I had used the Min-Wax Polyacrylic product. While the product was easy to work with and will provide good protection for the table, I’ve grown to love a simple wax finish. I guess I could always sand off the Polyacrylic, but I’ll probably just leave well enough alone!…

Of course, my vacation includes getting the farm table top refinished. (Oh boy!) That was my goal today. I knew I had a beauty on my hands, (thank you, dear Craig!) when I found this 6 foot long farm table, that was solid wood. No veneer! Hate that veneer stuff! It should be outlawed. I remember when the farm table’s former owner said “all you need is some varnish”, (to cover the missing varnished areas), I thought,…

Kat, at Kat’s Kalamities, referred me to a generous soul, named Karin, at Art Is Beauty. She has donated one of her beautiful paintings to the Newtown School Fund. Thank you Karin, for sharing your talent in such a positive way! What a wonderful gesture of kindness. Take a look at Karin’s blog, when you have a moment to spare. If we all do something kind to or for another, even just today,…

The natural rock book ends are quite manly, and only $32. The hand thrown pottery is also quite handsome, for $26. The brass lamp would look quite nice in your man’s “man cave”, for $122. Taxi, anyone? How about a little lumbar support? Of course, no man’s world is complete, without a tractor seat! Maybe a weathered library ladder? No? Then how about a bird McMansion? Just two…
Read the rest >>Hello Dear Friends! What an exciting week! Yesterday, my first shipment of Maison Blanche Furniture Paint Arrived at The Treasured Home! For nearly six months, I’ve been getting to know the good folks at Mason Blanche, based in Dallas, Texas. Just like the competition, this furniture paint is produced in the United Kingdom. It gets shipped to the U.S. in large containers and is repackaged into quart cans, here in the states. According to some, that technically makes Mason Blanche a U.S. paint manufacturer, but Annie Omar, the owner, thinks she should just call it as it is. While Annie…
