While I’m Gone August 17, 2014
Many of you know that my daughter’s at West Point. That’s the Army’s Military Academy in New York.
This is a picture of us, from a couple of years ago. We were staying in Manhattan for a couple of days, before heading up to the campus to see her. She’s now wearing her hair longer, but I love this picture. She took the train into town, for the day, with a friend and surprised me for my birthday!
Andrew, my oldest, (in the center) was in the Navy and got out, just a few months ago. He’s over in Scotland right now, training with a company that has a new office, in San Diego, where he and his wife live. What a great opportunity. So happy for him!
But back to New York, I’ll be leaving the shop in Jill, Diane and Lynda’s capable hands, while I go to Betsy’s Ring Ceremony, next weekend at West Point. If you are ever in NYC, West Point is just about one and a half hours from the city. I think that it’s a national treasure, that’s about 200 years old.
Betsy is a senior this fall, which is when they receive their class rings. Next Friday, at dusk, looking out over the Hudson River, her class of about 1200, will receive their rings.
It’s a very big deal for the cadets and we don’t want to miss it!
We’ve attended the beautiful Catholic Church in the past, but this Sunday, I hope to attend the Cadet Chapel.
Being a parent certainly has its high’s and low’s, but Betsy’s time at West Point, will always rank up there at the top of favorite memories!
God bless all of our kids and keep them safe!!
Have a wonderful time with your daughter! She has a very special Mother.
You are so sweet, Gretchen! We all just do the best we can, as mothers. Fortunately, they don’t remind me about my screaming fits! I hope you and your family is all doing well. I hope your RA is under control. Take care, BB
