Tray-Love February 28, 2012
Hello again!,
Yesterday, I snagged a lovely old tray, with lots of nooks and crannies. Once upon a time, it was a shiny, silver-plated number, but now, she’s sporting some treasured “patina”. Probably, from years of neglect and who knows what else. She set me back $15 and I love her! I wasn’t sure where to put her, so I took her on a home tour, taking pictures of a few other trays around the house.
What is it about trays that we love so much? For me, it’s the layering and texture that they bring to a space.
Our first stop was the kitchen island…
(If you aren’t bringing in some of the blossoms from outdoors, stop everything and go get you some! At least they’re starting to pop, out here on the west coast. I actually went out with my garden clippers, in the car, looking for these, on the side of the road!)
I tried her out on the wet bar, but it wasn’t her best look.
We’ve got some tray going on in the guest room…and the living room, too!
I don’t know if this little mirrored number qualifies as a “tray” but it works for me.
Back in the kitchen, she feels more at home.
But this is probably where she’ll spend most of her time, in retirement. She worked hard for it. Oh, I’ll give her a spin every now and then, but here, she can just relax, while keeping an eye on things.
Hoping your week is going great!

Oh! Tray clever! I guess I’m beating the tray to death…eh?
I’ve never met a tray I didn’t like. Love to use them for vignettes. Yours are lovely and I’m smiling about this clever title. 😉
LOve following the tray on your home tour this morning!
I also love that girl/woman that is carved out of wood,
an architectural piece or??
She is awesome and your home is amazing, Barbara.
But then I knew it would be~

Hi sweetness,
This is old Mexican religious folk art. I think of her as Mary, and believe she was in a church.
Just found you through The Polohouse. Love your blog, I am your newest follower.
Hi Pat, and welcome! I love the Polohouse, too! Thanks for your sweet note and for stopping by!
That is a lovely tray. I really enjoyed your tour of the other trays you have incorporated into vignettes. I love trays, too, & think it’s because it gives a grouping of objects more impact than if they are just scattered on a tabletop or other surface.

Sorry I’m late getting around to visiting Favorites on the First. I love your trays and all the beautiful vignettes you’ve created in your home. There are now spring blooms here in eastern Canada as we have a lot of snow and ice yet. Maybe in another month! Pamela
Don’t be sorry! I’m just glad you could get by and say hello. Isn’t it amazing how blogs connect people from all over the world? Here you are in eastern Canada and I am in California! Thanks for stopping by. All the best!
LOVE This post!! Trays have never looked so gorgeous! I love trays, they can be used in so many ways and your elegant style does them justice!
