A New (Antique) Farm Table, Coming Soon!

By Barbara Bussey | December 12, 2012 |

Hello there, I hope the week is being kind to you. I hit the ground running Monday morning, after returning home from Philadelphia, Sunday night. Mr. Wonderful held down this shop Monday afternoon, while I went in search of a wonderful antique farm table, that i had found for sale. It was everything I hoped it would be and I’m looking forward to seeing it restored! Here she is, parked in the garage. Isn’t she beautiful? Her surface needs to be sanded, stained and sealed. It should turn out great. I’ve got a thing for farm tables! The only downside,…

Philadelphia’s Reading Terminal Market

By Barbara Bussey | December 9, 2012 |

We’re on the shuttle, headed back to the airport. The Army – Navy Game was a close one, but Navy continued their 12 year winning streak. I am still so proud, when I see those kids in their dress uniforms! But it’s a mixed emotion. I’m happy that they love their country as they do, yet think none of them deserve to die over a middle eastern conflict. We saw very little of the city, but we had a wonderful pre birthday dinner with Betsy. We went to one of those Brazilian steakhouses. Believe it or not, I just did…

Going to the “City of Brotherly Love” (Philadelphia)

By Barbara Bussey | December 4, 2012 |

Since I have a daughter in the Army and a son in the Navy, I’ll try not to take sides. We’re crossing the country tomorrow for the big game, (leaving Max, our friend the Body Builder at the house, in case anyone’s got unsavory ideas!). So, here’s the program… I’ll be at the shop today playing store til 6 pm. The shop will be closed Thursday and OPEN, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, thanks to dear friends, Joaquin, Jini and Patti. (Debbie would be slaving away too, but as of today, she’s a grandma!! Congratulations!) They’re going to roll out my…

Painted Furniture is Everywhere (Especially One Kings Lane!)

By Barbara Bussey | December 3, 2012 |

Hello, once again! A blog post, two days in a row! Wow! Life may be getting back to normal. Maybe. Well, back to business. In an effort to shamelessly promote my FREE shipping, on Miss Mustard Seed’s Milk Paint, I’m going to show you a boat load of painted furniture. Now all of these images are from One King’s Lane, where you can buy your furniture pieces, already painted. The prices are quite reasonable, but they’re still about 5 times more than you’d spend to do it yourself. This is Miss Mustard Seed’s signature look, with the stained top surface…

Mirror, Mirror, On the Wall

By Barbara Bussey | December 2, 2012 |

Hello Dear Lovlies, Guess where I am? Oh, you smart pretties! Yes, I’m at The Treasured Home! Wrapping up my day, here at the shop. It was the day after the Holiday Open House, which was a huge success! Yay! Thanks to all of you who could stop by, and little angels, like Dawn, who owns a gorgeous florist, Bella Fiore, in old town Fair Oaks. She was sending her customers my way. Thanks to word of mouth, we had a great turn out! Jini and Joaquin were meeting and greeting, (thank goodness), while I had my first EVER Milk…

Introducing “Spray Bob”

By Barbara Bussey | November 21, 2012 |

It was a quiet day at The Treasured Home. I think most shoppers were in line at the grocery store and getting ready for family. So, I was able to get some work done. This cute little chest of drawers needed some trim work, distressing and waxing. I also waxed this great little side table and snagged it for our family room! Isn’t she a doll? All thanks to my painting partner, “Spray Bob”! His friends are giving him flack about the “Mr. Wonderful” moniker, even though I know he likes it! It saves a boatload of time for him…

New at the Shop

By Barbara Bussey | November 20, 2012 |

Will you do me a huge favor? If I am boring you with what’s going on at the shop, will you please tell me? It’s sort of all that I focus on these days. Yes, my daily activities seem to fall into one of the following: 1. Looking for things to sell 2. Painting things to sell 3. Arranging things to sell 4. Selling 5. Not selling 6. Eating 7. Sleeping Wanna be my friend? I’m not terribly interesting, but I mean well! Okay, now that I’ve finished with all that, let’s get back to talking about the shop. Whoops!…
