Greetings!, It’s Saturday evening, as I write this. Mr. Wonderful is at the wheel and we’re headed to Tahoe. We’re so thankful it’s just 2-hours away! We’ll have a turkey Caesar salad, for a late dinner, using a dressing that’s yummy garlic-heaven. If you love Caesar salad, I’ll post the delicious dressing recipe, before I sign off. But right now, let’s talk about the best way to totally simplify your Christmas or Hanukkah shopping, this season! Uno de 50. It’s a heavily plated silver jewelry line, designed and made by hand, in Spain. It is just one of the lines…
Greetings, from the lake! I hope your weekend has refueled you for a great week ahead! I am so excited, because the new addition remodel, starts on Tuesday! I’m not sure if I’m more excited about having more space, or the prospect of taking an ugly, dated space and giving it charm and personality. Either way, it all needs to be finished in time for our 5th Birthday Party! Can you believe the shop will be 5 years old at the end of September? I should have more news on that soon. Stay tuned! Last time, I showed you around…
Three years, one month and ten days of home renovations and Mr. Wonderful and I still love one another! This was how the house looked 3 years ago. Not a lot has changed on the exterior, other than paint. The sliding glass door is new. Two weeks after purchasing the place, Yogi paid us a messy visit. We’ve quickly had electric “bear wires” installed, to keep them from doing that again! So far, so good! First stop, the master bedroom… For starters, we’ll go upstairs, to what we call the apartment. You’ll see wallpaper everywhere! We worked on the upstairs…
Thanks to all of you, who were able to shop our Inventory Clearance Sale! I can’t tell you how much all of us appreciate your patronage! It’s huge, I tell you! ❤️❤️❤️❤️ Not to complain, but we still have oodles of furniture and the container from France arrives Thursday morning, (fingers crossed)! Since work on the new space, starts next week, I can’t use that area for storage. Well, you get the idea. It’s sort of a domino effect. Large dominoes! So, you guessed it, the sale continues through this Saturday, July 29th! Very old secretary…$95 Mabel, the cow, $79…
That made ya look!? Huh? Winning lottery ticket and all, I mean! I have so many projects I want to take on and the nasty part is that they all seem to require money! And of course since I don’t play the lottery, the next alternative is a money tree! Two, very reasonable options! Now, we’ll return to reality and all that stuff! Yes, it’s our summer – inventory clearance- finish cleaning out the back room-so we can expand the shop – and make room for French inventory sale! Wow, that’s a mouth full! Let’s just say, the shop is…
Have you wanted to learn more about essential oils? Before meeting Monica, last year, I only appreciated the fragrance of essential oils. I had no idea about what they were capable of, as health remidies! Monica Biery is a mother of 3, a business owner (unrelated to essential oils) and a naturalist, with 25 years of experience, avoiding man-made toxins. She’s like a walking encyclopedia on essential oils! Over the years, she’s cared for her children, without the use of antibiotics and has helped friends do the same. I had explored essential oils, shortly before meeting Monica and was quickly overwhelmed,…
I love hand made! For so many reasons. There’s always the pride of designing your piece of art, for others to love. For the maker, there’s a validation, when someone buys and wears something you’ve created. I feel the same way, when someone falls in love with a piece of furniture we’ve rescued and restored. There’s a sense that the community at large, is supporting our mission. I love hand made, because it’s a unique piece, that only I will wear. I’m also helping support a human being, instead of a machine. It’s my way of giving back, to my…
Hello again! I thought I would share a few more photos and thoughts of our time in France. While we were gone just a week, the days were packed. Right now, it stays light, later in southern France, than here at home. Often we didn’t sit down for dinner until 9ish. No one complained. There was something beautiful to see, around every corner. What about the ceiling in this bed and breakfast we visited, for a glass of champagne? Or, how about the Venetian mirror? The prettiest one I’ve ever seen! Big rooms. Stunning, yet comfortable. Many of the sofas…
Greetings, dear people! Jill and I have returned safely, from a week in France, I won’t soon forget! This photo was taken in the gorgeous Luberon region. The village at the top left corner of the photo, was built on a hilltop, as was done hundreds of years ago, for protection from the enemy. There is charm everywhere, in this country and especially here. The French have worked hard to maintain the historic architecture of those who came before them. This photo was taken in the old city of Aix (pronounced “Ex”) en Provence. This is where our group was…
Do I speak French? No, but Siri helps me out from time to time! Jill and I depart, on our long awaited, whirl-wind buying trip, to Aix en Provence. Besides having the chance to scout out one-of-kind treasures, at the amazing Isle sur la Sorgue market and pop markets in charming little villages, the window boxes and old stone buildings are food for the soul. We’ll do lots of exploring and get to visit the village of Cucuron, where part of the film, The Good Year, was filmed. While there, we’ll tour a local garden and have a glass of wine…
