Map-Love January 3, 2012
I was lucky enough to inherit my parents old world map, when they passed away. It’s big and beautifully framed and I spent far too little time studying it, when I was a child.
Now, it has a place of prominence, in our living room.
I love the colors found on maps and best of all, I can see where travels have taken me and where I’d still like to go. Come along and see a few other maps I found on Pinterest…
I dreaded the moment Mother de Chantel would pull one of these maps down, in class, for our viewing pleasure…along with her pointy stick, of course! But, I’d give anything to get my hands on one of them today!
This map covered lamp shade is on my list of “future crafts to attempt”.
And don’t be surprised if I try to decoupage a chair, too!
This wonderful kids room map is a great way to familiarize the little “buggers” with our big, crazy world.
So, what do you have on your list of projects this month? I’ve got to get back to painting some furniture for Veranda. I have a sweet vanity table to work on, along with chairs and stools to paint. Believe it or not, I pulled a little table out of the dumpster, at our soon-to-be-sold condo in San Francisco! I probably shouldn’t have told you that! Don’t worry. If I can’t do something fun with it, it will go back in someone else’s dumpster. I’ve also sold a few pieces over at the shop, so I had better get busy and bring in some new goodies!
Until we meet again, safe travels!

Wow! All the way from India! Welcome, friend! I hope you’ll visit again, Barbara
I love maps too – they get me dreaming about my next adventure. 🙂 Your living room is so lovely! I have two old school maps like the one you showed here at Linen Haus if you’re interested – one of the US and one of England and France – both in German… Got your email – will reply soon!
isn’t it funny how maps are timeless….even after lines have been redrawn and names have been changed? sadly, i rushed past a stack of outdated pull-down maps outside my classroom a few years ago and they ended up lost…in the trash. gone.
boo-hoo!
Oh, that would have me crying, too!
Your map is a great size. Love it.
It’s so special that you have our parents’ map. I love to decorate with antique maps. That is such a fun chair!
wow, I love the lampshade and the chair. Awesome, thanks for posting.
Aren’t they great? ! Being mrs. crafty, you could do that!
I love maps and daydreaming of journeys, and adore the unusual way some of these are displayed. The chair…amazing!!
