Let the Party Preparations Begin! May 22, 2012
Hello, hello!,
I just asked my friend, Stacy, at Conspicuous Style, if I could guest post on her beautiful blog. I suggested that I could write about decorating for a 4th of July party and she said “Yes!”.
Whoa! Now I have to figure out how to decorate for a 4th of July party! I figure that since I’m going to be making decorations for a party, that we might as well go ahead and have a party! This could be fun, although its not the way parties are usually planned. What the heck!
So, to get started, I visited the wildly successful blog, Tip Junkie, where I found a tutorial on making a paper cone wreath, created by Holly at Ribbons and Glue.
You’ll need a variety of 12×12, 2-sided, scrapbook paper. I get mine cheap, usually at Marshall’s. You’ll also want a glue gun, a paper cutter, and a 12″ round piece of cardboard.
The bottom layer, is made up of rolled up pieces of 6 x 6″ scrapbook paper. The top layer is made using 4 x 6″ paper…. about 20 to 22 cones per layer.
I think I went through three or four glue sticks. Lots of glue! If you are west of the Rockies, you could probably smell the skin on my fingers burning, thanks to the hot glue sticking to them. Hmmm.
Two hours later (this project is not fit into my Do-it-Fast rule book for craft projects) the project was completed!
Pretty nice, eh? If you start now, you could have this hanging on your door for that Memorial Day Party you’re planning!
Now, what other brilliant ideas will I be able to come up with? No, I’m not the type to make red and blue ice cubes, but I’m open to suggestions! Are you planning any parties this summer?

Wow! You’ve got much more patience than I have. Wreath looks great! When I have a get together, all I’ve ever done, is clean my house….shine whatever needs to be shined…prepare great food and drinks, put out some flowers, and let my guests enjoy. Can’t wait to see all that you come up with. Hopefully I’ll get inspired!
Hi there! Trust me, that’s usually as far as I get too! We’ll see!
That is really pretty! I still think a red white and blue garland
Of pinwheel thingys would be neat if you want to get together one of these days!!
