Getting Closer, at the Tahoe Fixer December 9, 2015
Bob “Mr. Wonderful”, took this picture last week, at sunrise. He’s an early riser and has seen lots of sunrises, at Lake Tahoe, lately. In 12 days, the kids arrive and there are still a few details to take care of!
This was our living area…
…and here was our 1958 kitchen.
The kitchen was demo’ed and the guys found that ply wood had been used, instead of sheet rock. (Not as good of a moisture, fire or sound barrier) So, they boosted the insulation and added sheet rock, in the living room and kitchen.
Electricians added lots of LED can lights into the ceiling and the house will be visible from outer space!
Now we have an island, which is now much larger, after posts were added, to create a counter and support the granite, arriving this weekend…weather permitting!
This is a photo I took and it’s not the best, but you’ll get an idea. The photo, pulled from a magazine, shows the shaker style cabinets we’ll have, along with the hardware I’ve chosen.
Cabinets are being painted in the grey (looking green) color sample. The granite is as light and simple as I could find and the tile below it, is a piece of 24″ X 24″ porcelain tile, that will run from the front door, through the kitchen, to the garage door. The white color board, is the wall color, that will be used downstairs. Light and bright. A matte subway tile will be installed on the wall, behind the counter.
Flooring will have to wait until January. We’ll make the best of it, realizing that it’s who’s “in” the home, that’s most important.
I did get the faucet I have loved forever, along with a farm sink, so Santa has come early at our house!
