I think that this bathroom remodel wins the prize! (I’m not sure what the prize is, but there should be one!) Speaking of creativity, Jim, a new customer at the shop, came in recently, with his wife. We got to talking about furniture restoration and he told me about his piano/workstation. An old, well-loved piano, converts easily (or so I hear!) to a computer workstation! If you’d like to convert your piano to a work station, let me know and I’ll put the two of you together! We had a stellar sales day at the shop! This desk and hutch,…
Read the rest >>Hello Dear Ones, Do you love antique European grain sacks? They’ve been a favorite for a while now. I love them! Their texture! They were made to last for years, and that has certainly been accomplished. They date back to the 1800’s, made of a hemp fabric, or very thick linen. As you might have guessed, the stripes and monograms identified the farmer. I took a grain sack and turned it into a pillow today. A perfectly simple transformation, you can do at home. Bob had sliced up a branch for me, to turn into buttons. I took the little…

Product has already started to arrive at The Treasured Home!…like this great cookbook and placemat collection. And did I tell you about the purses? And the retro signs? Well, that’s just the beginning! Plus, we have furniture projects, waiting in the wings! I need to sell some furniture and make room! Remember the 6′ long, solid wood, antique farm table that I refinished, listed at $1050? It’s reduced to $840! I’ll be open until 6, Wednesday and…

Of course your personal servant would unpin and brush your hair each night, a hundred strokes. I’m winging it here. Need to brush up on the show and watch it more often! What? You wouldn’t have been caught dead with a peach colored velvet sofa? How about Mae West? For you youngsters, she was one of the first sex goddesses of early film. “Is that a gun in your pocket, or are you just happy to…

I do know that the quarter back has the ball and they try to get the ball to the end of the field for a touch down. Impressed? No? You’ll find me at the shop, hoping to put the finishing touches on the sofa I’m painting. Mr. Wonderful thinks it’s perfect for a bordello. (No, I didn’t ask him how he would know! ) I think it…
Read the rest >>Hello Sweet Friends, It’s been a while since we visited the original treasured home. Truth be told, I haven’t been spending a lot of time here, since opening the shop. I don’t know if I showed you pictures of our upstairs, since adding the wood floors, but I love them! For some time, I’ve been on the “look- out” for a bench, at the foot of our bed. Thanks to a recent estate sale purchase, mission accomplished! It’s supposed to be 200 years old! I also got the needle point inserts that were replaced by cain. Beautiful. Boxes are always…
Read the rest >>Hello my cherishables!, If you’ve read “The Paris Wife”, you’ve heard the word “cherishables” before. I’m the last person on the universe to read the book, but I’m thoroughly enjoying it and I’m loving that word! Now, on to more serious matters. Paint and wax brushes. Seriously. Would you try to flip an egg with a salad tong? Or mop a floor with a window squeegee? Of course not! So, why, pray tell, would you wax a piece of furniture for your home, or to sell, with a disposable chip brush? Enquiring minds want to know! Normally, I’m not a…
