I hope you’ll join me on my never-ending search for beautiful pieces, with history, for your home. Find my curated treasures, in Booth #154, at the Antique Trove, in Roseville, CA. ~ Barbara
Well, are you impressed? I’ve got a talking cow! All thanks to “Captions Free”, a FREE iPad app I just discovered! Isn’t it fun? I know that many of you are photography experts that run around Photo Shop, like you’ve lived in the neighborhood all of your life. They say to know your strengths and that’s not mine. I need programs that require no more than three steps and wowzers!…I found it. So, continue to be thoroughly impressed with my amazing talents! We’re leaving the Big Apple, headed for that little college, with about 4500 wild and crazy students, in…
Read the rest >>Well, We just wrapped up another day, walking the streets of Manhattan. I’ve taken my partner in crime in all directions. Yesterday he opted out of shopping at the Salvation Army Thrift store. Smart man! I had heard that this shop had a great selection, thanks to Mr. Goodwill Hunting, on the Nate Burkas show. I thought “what the heck!”. I thought I might find a few interesting “smalls” that I could stuff into my suitcase. Not! They had these pictures on the wall for entertainment purposes, as you walked up to the third floor of this old warehouse.…
Read the rest >>Hello again, from the “Big Apple”! Today, we’re going to make our annual pilgrimage to ABC Carpet & Home. The place takes up two large old buildings, across the street from one another, on Broadway, in New York City. One building is all about floor covering. I skip that. The furniture and home accessories are all I care about! This is a Venetian glass chandelier with an antique mirror, behind it, wrapped in gauze! You wrap your mirror frames in gauze, don’t you? Don’t we all? While the picture misses most of it, this display is surrounded by white Christmas…
Read the rest >>What a city! You can find just about anything here! We don’t come with a well planned agenda, but love to take each day as it comes. While I find some of the subway riders a bit unsavory, the system is by far, more efficient than riding a taxi, sitting in traffic. The subway system dates back to 1904 and is the largest in the world! It’s too bad more cities didn’t plan for this form of transit, way back then. The old mosaic tiles were hand cut back then and newer installations have been added since. A variety of…
Read the rest >>What a dope! I left the house without my iPhone! This is like leaving my brain behind. It’s my camera, my email, my WordPress, my Words With Friends my everything! Know what I mean? So, I’m going to improvise, using my first-generation iPad. I got to the airport, went through the top-notch security system and sat down to use my phone. What? NO phone? How will I cope?! So since I have no camera, I have relied solely on my artistic talents! Oh dear, let me re-direct! After a brief stop in Denver, I am now in Raleigh, North Carolina,…
Read the rest >>Greetings! How’s everything in your neighborhood? Simply wonderful, I hope! Good news! The Blog Sisters Events Calendar has now gone “live”! The events calendar, is up, just a few days before the Southern Bloggers Conference! Have you seen all the sponsors and speakers scheduled? It’s going to be a blast! I’ve also posted the (drum roll please!) opening date of The Treasured Home Work-Shop! I am sure that there are hundreds, if not thousands of classes, antique, vintage and crafter shows going on every week, and the plan is that we’ll do our best to list events by region or…
Read the rest >>Did you ever read “Where’s Waldo” books with your children? My kids loved them. I sort of feel like I’m living the book right now, as I spread myself very thin, hopping from one project to another! Not that you’re chewing your fingernails down to the quick, wondering where my blog posts are, but in case you noticed, I haven’t been writing them! And I probably won’t be writing too many at least until I get to the Southern Bloggers Conference next Friday. I am putting ribbons on 100 of these Blog Sister bookmarks for the conference next week. Cute,…
Read the rest >>I just spoke with the second woman I know, on her way to the Round Top Antique Fair! Go girls! Towing trailer, and all! Talk about the “Ultimate Girl’s Road Trip”! Does it matter that I can’t drive a trailer? Can an old dog still learn new tricks? With over 2000 vendors, showing October 3rd through 6th, I think you’d need more than a stinking little trailer! I’d need a serious truck, trailer and complete staff of burley moving men! Plus, an endless supply of Ben Franklin’s! Details aside, wouldn’t this be a hoot?? I’d come home talkin’ Texan, for…
Read the rest >>I’ve risen up from the blog underworld. That’s the place you go, when you haven’t blogged in a few days. Trust me I have not been sitting idol. One exciting development, is that I completed a drapery (woo-hoo!) panel and love how it turned out! I made this with painters drop cloth and velvet. One more two go! The other development that really makes me happy, is that my old shutters will fit perfectly on the walls, between the picture rail and the baseboard. I have enough to install another section on the other side of the room, I think.…
