This week at the shop! February 15, 2022
Greetings, dear one!
How’s your week going? I feel like I’m two days behind schedule! But then, I usually feel that way! Busy isn’t something you win awards for. Sadly.
I know it sounds silly, but I went to the dentist Monday morning, as I do on a regular basis…in Lafayette. Depending on traffic, that can be up to two hours by car.
Why you ask? Well, I’ve been going to this dental office for nearly fifty years. Can you believe it? Originally, my dentist was my oldest sister’s husband, Ned. Then he retired and his wonderful son, Matthew took over the practice.
I take this scenic drive, because I trust them to do what’s right. The “drill and bill” approach is never a concern. Plus I get to see family and support my nephew.
Now, my sweet brother in law, Ned, has dementia. So, I spent time after my appointment, with Ned, to give my sister a break. Ned and I looked through family photo albums and played some games. To see one of the kindest, smartest men you know and love, struggle with a simple game, breaks your heart.
But I know there are so many who struggle with health challenges. Just recently, in one of our classes, one woman’s husband also suffers from dementia, while another woman’s husband has muscular dystrophy. Those were two women, in just one class! It makes one sad to think of all the people, walking in these same shoes. It also amazes me, how strong people are, when it comes to caring for a loved one.
I know you didn’t open this email, expecting to hear about all this. What it’s reminded me is to thank God every day for my reasonably good health and to try to help others in need. Giving a part of ourselves is the best gift ever!
Now, where was I?…
New arrivals…
While at the shop today, I unboxed some gorgeous table runners I told you about, when I was at market last month. Their neutral texture is gorgeous! Can’t wait to see them on an actual table!
We also got a new shipment of Peepers reading glasses in today. Did you know that if you wear prescription glasses, you can use Peppers’ frames? They’re great looking, well built and just $25!
While we’re bringing in lots of new clothes, I was bummed to find out today, that Democracy Jeans are on back-order. They won’t be shipping until the end of March. Dang! Patience is a virtue!
Fortunately, I have ordered Jag and Silver jeans for you to try. A couple of cute jean jackets as well.
If you’re one of those clever people, who buy holiday items, when they’re half off, you’re in luck! All remaining Valentines Day goodies are half off!
Workshops…
Did you see this gallery wall project, we have on the calendar? Each month, we’ll create a different art board for your home. Our first piece in the line-up will be taught in March. Check out the complete spring class schedule, Here!
You won’t find this birdhouse on the schedule, but it was a fun project, involving decoupage and I.O.D. moulds. Can we have a quick, informal survey? Would you take this class? $35. Yes, or no, could you just hit the reply button and give me a quick yes or no? I won’t hold you to your vote. Just trying to see if there’s interest.
Girls Weekend!
I’m heading out to Oklahoma, Friday morning, to see my daughter Betsy and her family. I can’t wait! We’re going to have a blast! I’ll be back Monday night, so it’s a pretty quick trip!
Well, there you have it!
Thanks for being here. I’m so thankful for your support!
Until we meet again, safe travels!
XO
