The Box Arrived! April 30, 2012
Hi there!,
Life is finally getting back to normal, after having been gone for two weeks.
What’s better then getting a package in the mail? Shortly before leaving for Italy, the shipment from my New York shopping adventure arrived. So I thought I would share it with you, my shopping buds!
First of all I found this beautiful painted wedding scene. It’s Indian and I think it will look great in the dining room, once it is framed.
… quite the dashing groom! And what about these bridesmaid outfits?
I also love the moon and the stars and the water lilies.
It’s about 3 x 5′ in size and I think it will be wonderful in this room.
For the living room, I found this 19th century, Chinese, brick-red enameled trunk.
I’d love to know what treasures this chest has held in the last 100 years! I guess you can tell that I’m into Asian antiques! How about you?
Finally, this old batik sarong should make some beautiful pillows. We’ll see. I’m going to look for some complementary fabrics that might go well with it. Or maybe I’ll just wear the sarong next time I go to the grocery store! Decisions, decisions!
Well, that’s the latest from our home. We’re having my favorite crock pot pork tacos for dinner tonight and it’s almost 90 degrees here today! The birds are singing and I thank God for our blessings!
I hope all is well in your home! And thanks so much for visiting today!
Cheers!,
Barbara
The trunk looks perfect in the living room! And the color really matches the entire setting. I really envy your collection 🙂
Hi Barbara, I see you found treasures while on your trip. It’s always exciting to get the “box” after we are home. The wedding scene is gorgeous and I look forward to seeing how you have it framed. I think the red trunk looks fabulous in this space, and I’m sure it must have held many treasures along the way. Great choices.
Your treasures are going to be perfect in your home. I’m especially fond of your trunk coffee table. That splash of red looks great in your living room.

Each one lovely. I’ve been following along with your travel posts, but haven’t commented. Will get back to that no. ~ Sarah
Love seeing the Chinese Trunk in your living room; I am still working on mine and will send you pics!

Hubba Hubba – I WANT him to be my husband! ha ha. But the red trunk – WOWZA, that is to DIE for. I’d even marry the scary dude for that. In the meantime, it looks pretty in the home of Mr. & Mrs. Wonderful. You’ll have to share the crock pot recipe. My crock pot and I are addicted to each other. Besides coming home to a clean house after the housekeeper fairies visit, coming home after a day of work to dinner already done is very high on my happy list!
Glad to hear you are home and readjusting to normal life again. Travel is always such a whirlwind. Your shopping finds are amazing. The chinese red trunk looks very expensive and unique. I’ll be anxious to see how you frame the wedding scene.
Love the trunk and the painting! My
Mom gave Heather and I beautiful handcarved 100 year old trunk from Japan with five sided scenes. I know you would approve!
