This Week at The Treasured Home

By Barbara Bussey | March 26, 2014 |

Well, there’s a lot going on, at The (bigger, badder) Treasured Home! First of all, check out the wall-o-paint! I found this rack last weekend, while out scavenging, and it is perfect, for displaying my Amy Howard One-Step color boards! I don’t know what it was used for in its previous life, but for $42.00, I’m happy!! Check out our expanded work shop and class space! Mr. Wonderful completed the third rolling work table last week. The top is made of butcher block, that I painted with MMS milk paint, in the color “Trophy”. (That’s Diane in the picture, working…

16 Days in Europe

By Barbara Bussey | March 21, 2014 |

Before you know it, I’ll be headed to Marrakech. From there, the traveling girlfriends, led by our fearless leader, Eileen Hayes, will head to Barcelona and then to France. The picture above, is of the Royal St. Honore, where we’ll end our adventure in Paris! This will be my 5th trip to Europe, in the last 8 years. If it made any sense, and if Bob, aka Mr. Wonderful, would join me, I’d live there! I won’t be blogging about my adventure, on a daily basis, as I have in the past, but I will be posting on Facebook, if…

Changes In Our Living Room

By Barbara Bussey | March 19, 2014 |

Greetings, from sunny Northern California! What a glorious time of year, here! I’m in my back yard typing this, while a very happy bird is singing his heart out! Today, is a day off, so I’m taking it slow. I wanted to show you a small change in our living room, so here goes. (It might be a nice break, from all things “shop”! My parents are both keeping a close eye on me from heaven, now days, while I take care of some of their earthly treasures. This extra wide chair was one of my favorites, in their home. Back…

Why We Love Milk Paint

By Barbara Bussey | March 14, 2014 |

As much as I love the ease and predictability of Amy Howard’s One -Step paint, no other paint can achieve chippy-heaven, like milk paint! Isn’t she the sweetest thing ever? I used Kitchen Scale on the legs, mixed with Ironstone. It looks almost identical to the Eulalie’s Sky, I used on the seat. Go figure. It’s all good!

The (Expanded) Treasured Home!

By Barbara Bussey | March 13, 2014 |

No, I did not fall off the Empire State Building or get swept away at Niagara Falls! We have expanded into the space next door! Walls have been removed and it’s a whole lot of fun, having more room! In the meantime, we have grown into the suite next door and I’m loving the new space! My favorite thing to do is find new treasures! I found all of these Western hats, at an estate sale, of a woman who use to play in western pictures. She was married four times and was quite a woman! I found this old…

The Milk Paint Adventure Continues!

By Barbara Bussey | February 3, 2014 |

Well, this is a first. In just a few minutes, I’ll be landing in Lost Wages, for the second time in a week! This would be really cool, if I was a gambler, Celine Dion’s Nanny, or a pimp. Alas, I am none of these. I am excited to be attending retailer training, for Miss Mustard Seed’s Milk Paint, over the next two days. I’m really looking forward to meet some of the other brave souls, who have chosen to follow their creative spirit, and show others how to re-purpose the forgotten, neglected often abused vintage and antique furniture pieces.…

Need a gift for your Valentine?

By Barbara Bussey | January 31, 2014 |

Well, that was fast! My first order placed at the Las Vegas Market, on Monday, arrived today! I brought in the last two, in the six-series line of The Gathering of Friends Cookbooks. I’m always amazed by how many of my customers have collected all or part of the series and love them! Expert and novice cooks appreciate the simple lists of ingredients and delicious results. Each recipe is designed to serve 6 and each chapter covers an entire meal (often seasonal) along with pictures of each recipe and of tablescape ideas. There’s a 7th volume due out later this…
