New York City this Week March 7, 2012
Thanks to my daughter in college at West Point, just an hour and a half from Manhattan, we’re back in the city for a few days.
I thought I’d just show you some of the beautiful sights. The weather is wonderful, although brisk and breezy!
Prior to seeing War Horse at Lincoln Center (which I much prefer over the mayhem of Times Square), we had dinner before the show at Cafe Fiorello, practically across the street. (if you’re on a diet, close your eyes!)
The production was wonderful and the life like horse “puppets” we’re amazing! In my opinion, they stole the show!
Afterwards, I had worked up such an appetite, we returned to Fiorello for cheesecake topped with fresh strawberries, whipped cream and real, hot chocolate sauce! Can you imagine? The only thing they could have done to increase the calorie count would have been to deep fry the whole thing!
Thank goodness we were walking everywhere, to help burn the overload of calories!
Earlier, we strolled through the upper east side, where that was about all we could afford to do. What beauty to behold! From the windows at Bergdorf Goodman, to beautiful architecture, on our way to visit Bardith, on Madison Avenue, it’s all stunning!
Bardith, is a jewel box of a shop, that houses gorgeous porcelain. Antique and mostly English.
I asked the sales woman what to look for in real porcelain treasures. She didn’t know where to begin. She said “it’s a study”. After looking around, at the amazing colors and detail, I could see what she meant.
I was tempted to hold a “sit in”, called “Occupy Bardith”, because I couldn’t justify spending the thousands they were asking for these treasures! Ha! Don’t worry. It was too cold for a “sit in”! No arrests this week!
So much to see on this wonderful little island! Stay tuned for more adventures!
Yours truly,
Barbara
