New Classes, for a New Year! December 30, 2017
Greetings!,
Can you believe it’s the end of 2017? Crazy!
I hope your holidays have been everything you wanted them to be! Mr. Wonderful and I were orphans this Christmas, so everything was pretty low-key. We missed the kids, but the low-key part was pretty nice!
Having been up at Tahoe for a week, I’ve had a chance to do some long term planning, which is always helpful. I opened the shop, five years ago, with no prior retail experience, flying by the seat of my pants. Over time, I’ve learned that isn’t such a great approach! Let’s see where all this planning and brainstorming takes us!
If one of your commitments for the coming year, is more “me” time, we’ve got some fun alternatives, for a girl’s night out, or just creative expression.
Our teaching artist, Susanne Kish, returns Friday, January 19th at 6 p.m., for our popular Paint & Sip Art night. Now, don’t tell me you aren’t artistic, because I’ve heard it before and seen the amazing finished results! Plus, Susanne traces out the image, which gives you a big “leg up”!
You may know Monica Biery, from our Essential Oil classes. Well, she’s also certified in Plant Based Nutrition, from Cornell University, studying under T. Colin Campbell, author of The China Study.
I’ve been eating like a wart hog and feeling like the Hendenburg blimp. My slow moving gut resembles the clogged pipe on the Draino T.V. commercial, but I really don’t want to resort to Draino, to get relief!
I’ve begged Monica to teach us her recipes and tips for a healthy gut. We’re calling the 90 minute class, on Saturday, January 20th, at 10:30, New Year’s Cleanse, Made Simple. Catchy, eh!?
Monica will share her recipes, for her go-to juice drink and smoothie, along with her miso soup. These foods are all supposed to make our girlish guts wake up and say “Hello, let’s party! See how easy they are to make and how tasty they are!
One goal for the new year, is to schedule more free Demo Days! The first ones scheduled in January and February, for you Furniture painters and crafters, are Iron Orchid Designs. These Decorative embellishments are really incredible and you need to see them for yourself!
Since January and February are typically slow months, we’ve put our most popular class, Paint Your Own Piece, on Sale! Normally $65.00, this 3 hour class will be just $45.00. We’ve also added a weeknight class, for those of you that can’t make our Saturday classes.
When we furnished our cabin, it was so inexpensive to buy vintage pieces and paint them. Our bedroom with the twin beds, is a great example.
In this picture, above, you’ll see that we painted the twin bed frames, the night stand and side chair. We even painted the old hanging brass ceiling light and the floor lamp!
If you have a small piece, you’d like to get started on, (like the chair in the photo above), sign up for one of our all-inclusive classes and get-your-paint-on!
Sign up on-line for any of these workshops, at https://www.thetreasuredhome.com/classes
Until we meet again, I’m sending warm wishes for an outstanding new year!
Hi,
I’m trying to get in touch with Susanne Kish. Do you mind responding to Me? I seem to have lost her business card.
Thank you,
Tami
Hi Tami, I’ll ask Susanne to email you. Happy new year!
Happy New Year to you and Mr. Wonderful. I hope 2018 brings you good health and prosperity.
Lucky you on the new pot laws…I predict a creative explosion.
Remember: if it doesn’t breathe, paint it!

Great to hear from you, Jane! Are you still living in that beautiful part of Florida? I haven’t seen any of your pillow posts. Are you still having them made? What are you up to? I think the new pot law is going to create a whole new set of challenges for us. By the way, I smoked enough in my 20’s to probably last a life time. Ha! Hope you’re doing great! Hugs, Barbara
All of your classes sound like fun, sure wish I was closer. Maybe this summer I can come take a class and we can create together. Happy New Year!
