Looking for a New Ride October 24, 2012

Greetings, dear friends!

Without much fanfare, but with so much to celebrate, The Treasured Home will officially open for business Saturday morning!

While my location gets lots of drive by traffic, I’m thinking about something to grab driver’s attention. I’ve got the sign for the window (white decal) going in tomorrow…

…and a sign out at the street, that anyone driving 6 miles per hour should be able to read…

But, what if I could park a ride like this one! Modeling, is blog-diva, Donna, of Funky Junk out front!

These two are real beauties!

I found one candidate on Craig’s list, but it needs a little work…ya think?

But who am I kidding? We still have plenty of work to do, before Saturday!

Thanks so much for visiting! Stay tuned for more updates!

I actually do like the truck idea..you’ve got time to spruce the second one up I’m sure!!! Paint it with a pretty shade of milk paint!! I AM excited for you! Anytime someone has a dream, and gets to realize the dream, that’s exciting!! 😉

      Hi Donnamae,
I appreciate your support so much! Wish you weren’t so far away! I woke up last night with my mind in overdrive! Had to get up and make a to-do list, before I could relax!
      Hugs,
      Barbara

Thank you Kisha! I need to slow down and take one step at a time, but I think a truck will be perfect!

Grab the truck. You could call for volunteers to help paint it. I am game. I can’t wait to drive over your way to see the shop.

    • Barbara Bussey on October 25, 2012 at 8:48 am

      Hi Pamela,
Looking forward to meeting you! Wouldn’t that be a hoot, to paint an old truck like that! We’ve got to make sure it’s ok with the “powers that be”, neighbors, and all. I’ve got my husband on board, so that’s a big step!
      Cheers!,
      Barbara

    • Barbara Bussey on October 25, 2012 at 9:08 am

Yes, I can imagine you jumping up and down! Makes me smile, good friend. You’re a doll!
      Hugs,

I have felt your “thrill tired” before and I’m so excited for you!
Also had a “special ride” experience….bought one spur of the moment at a fundraiser, after much wine! Woke up next morning saying what the heck did I do! Thankfully, opposing bidder jumped at chance to buy it…..it was for the best but remains a funny story in the community!
So my advice? Don’t drink and buy!
    Can’t wait to visit!

    • Barbara Bussey on October 25, 2012 at 9:27 am

Having volunteered to chair a fundraiser in a weak moment, you know they bank on their open bar! Ha! I’ve certainly fallen prey to that, but never bought a car! 🙂

      • Cindy@ZoeyJune on October 25, 2012 at 7:51 pm

Well, I had just opened my store, in a 1929 cottage and it was a restored 1929 Model A ford pick up with wood slat sides….you know it spoke to me! I pictured it parked out front or driving in the 4th of July parade or filled with flowers!
But the reality of where to keep it safely set in and I came to my senses.
I still wish I had it and I hope you get yours, it’s a great idea!

Truck idea is so fun. We opened our store 5 weeks ago and have not stopped yet. The work before the opening is the hardest, then you open and it’s heaven!
    Good Luck!

  11. Trish on October 26, 2012 at 8:15 am

Do the car! So much fun… people would have no choice but to stop in to get a closer look if you had one of those parked out front. Love it!

  12. Gayle @Rodan and Fields on October 27, 2012 at 9:03 am

Hope your first day is busy and filled with excitement!
    Congrats on the store opening…

    Barbara –
I’ve always stopped in at Veranda and have followed your blog for a long time now. Where is your new shop? I live in Woodland, so I don’t come over often, but can’t wait to see your new place and meet you in person! Lisa
