Fussing Over the Farm Table December 27, 2012

Hello, sweetness!,

Wow! Two days in a row! Teacher, I’m here!

This is what happens when I’m taking a va-cay from the shop! Of course, my vacation includes getting the farm table top refinished. (Oh boy!) That was my goal today. I knew I had a beauty on my hands, (thank you, dear Craig!) when I found this 6 foot long farm table, that was solid wood. No veneer! Hate that veneer stuff! It should be outlawed.

I remember when the farm table’s former owner said “all you need is some varnish”, (to cover the missing varnished areas), I thought, “oh, sure!” Nothing is ever that simple. And I was reminded of that, this afternoon, as I sanded the piece with my new sander, for at least 3 hours. Minimum! Thank goodness I found a perfect stain match and the legs were In good shape! Tomorrow, we’ll take her to the shop and apply the poly acrylic.

The rest, of my vacation includes taking down the tree, in the front window. Fun, eh? But it sure was pretty. thanks to Patti!

We’re off to a play tonight. Hope you day is going good!

Hugs,
Barbara

How are you? Busy as usual I see. I hope your classes are full and 2013 is a profitable and satisfying year for you. Can’t wait to see the farm table. xxx

Thanks, Jane! I’m still adjusting to the “new normal” but that’s OK! What do they say? Nothing stays the same except for “change”!
      Cheers to you!,

I am anxious to see the table as well!
Also, do you sell the sparkly crowns in your picture,at your shop? LOVE it!

    • Barbara Bussey on December 29, 2012 at 7:50 am

Yes, the glitter crowns were for sale. There were just two or three left, yesterday, when I packed up the tree. I’m one of these people who is really ready to move on, after Christmas! Even more so, since I had the tree up for over a month at the shop!
      Thanks for stopping by!
      Hugs,
      Barbara

PS Those crowns…beautiful! Do you sell them?

    • Barbara Bussey on December 31, 2012 at 8:10 am

      Hi Tina,
Here’s the long answer…I bought them at a craft fair, but I’m pretty sure they weren’t made by hand. I wish I had the source, but unfortunately, I don’t. I was in Sonoma yesterday, and found stars, done in the same way. There is a manufacturer’s tag that I will research, if you’re interested. I’ve tried making them by hand and it was a disaster! 🙂
Thanks for stopping by and best wishes to you, for another great year!
      Cheers!,
      Barbara
