Furniture Painting Prep Done Right! December 13, 2018
Correctly preparing a piece of furniture for paint will make or break your finished product. This furniture painting prep tutorial will help you get it right!
We’ve all seen boutique paint brands bragging on how their paint requires “No Prep”, but if you’ve been painting furniture for any length of time you know that those claims just aren’t true! Prepping your furniture pieces for paint is a must! Paint won’t stick to dirt, so going the no prep route will only leave you with a piece you won’t be happy to call your own. Today, let’s watch Barbara with The Treasure Home as she preps some pieces for an upcoming workshop. Her tips and expertise are always very helpful!
All you need are a few Furniture Painting Prep Supplies:
Sanding Pad – Optional
Shop Towels for Application of TSP

Furniture Painting Prep Tip:
Always clean your piece BEFORE you do any sanding. Sanding a dirty piece will drive surface grime into the grain of the wood. That’s not a good thing!
Remember, paint won’t stick to dirt! That’s why furniture painting prep is so important. Even if a paint brand claims otherwise. Always prep you piece!
