Craving A Farm Sink In The Big City September 23, 2011
While I’m really not complaining about our dear kitchen sink, if I had my hand in on our kitchen’s design, early on, I would have asked for a farm sink.
While our sink is tucked nicely into a corner, with views of our backyard, it would be impossible to slip in a farm sink without moving the dishwasher, cutting the granite (replacing it with Carreras marble?) and all sorts of other unmentionables, that Mr. Wonderful isn’t likely to go for. So for now, I’m just dreaming a bit, browsing through pretty pictures. Join me?
Now, as long as I’m dreaming, this is my idea of the perfect kitchen. I love the blue and white pottery, the copper lantern hanging above the island and of course, the farm sink, filled with my favorite flowers, white hydrangeas!
These are all nice options for a traditional kitchen, which is where I think a farm sink fits best.
This would have been perfect, had I ever properly trained my two children to wash dishes in tandem!
As you can see, farm sinks are available in just about every material, whether metal, stone, or porcelain. There are even sinks with carved stone fronts, which mixed with granite counters and another backsplash, is hard to do well, in most kitchens. Another example of “less is more”.
There are even “baby” farm sinks for your kitchen!
Into the southwestern look?
Or are you a fan of “The Flintstones”? This could work!
Well, it’s time to wake up because my dream was turning to a nightmare…Flintstone’s sink? Crazy! Whatever your design dreams, I hope they all come true!
Enjoy your weekend!
