Cool Fun on a Hot Day July 7, 2011
On days like this, when it will feel like about 175 degrees outside, I do my best to stay indoors.
While my daughter’s at boot camp and my son will soon be deployed on a ship, I’d like to be able to send them note cards that make them feel loved, without “breaking the bank”.
I found a way to send hand made / customized cards for less than 50 cents each!
For a few years now, I’ve admired the hand made cards from friends. They’re so beautiful, I hate to part with them!
I received a “thank you” card from my talented friend Debbie, and I felt as though I should send her a “thank you” for the “thank you”!
I also like projects that don’t require studying three pages of instructions in Spanish, before getting started and this project fits the bill! It’s easier than you’d think.
First of all, you’ll need some basic supplies that I picked up at Target. I found a huge tablet of beautiful craft papers and cut-outs for $7.00 at Marshall’s. Gift bags run 50 cents each, when you buy them by the dozen at Target. I’m sure you could save more money at the dollar store, too. Plain white note cards and envelopes cost 33 cents, when you buy them in boxes of 50.
And then you can add cut outs, sold in little bags for 3 or 4 dollars, for everything, whether sports, love, friendship, back to school…you name it!
Now, you’re ready to cut, glue and paste together. I was so excited about the great results as a novice, I knew I was facing a new craft addiction. Oh boy!!
Have a cool, stylish Thursday!
