Changes in Our Dining Room July 22, 2018
Greetings!,
Welcome to spider season, in Northern California! They seem to be everywhere! And I want to know how they spin a web across a door way! How do they get there? I want to know!
Now on to other news! After about 16 years, I’ve decided (along with an “OK” from Mr. Wonderful), to update our formal dining room.
Our dining room table and chairs are from Henredon. The chairs alone were $800 ish each. Knowing what I know now, about refurbishing furniture, I’m not sure I would have gone this route today, but the quality is impeccable.
I know I’m going to Stain the table a darker shade…saying a prayer!
For starters, I’m selling these captain chairs. They are in perfect condition. They could be used as they have been here, at a desk, or in a bedroom. I’m selling the two for $300!
Here’s a close-up of the fabric. Not exactly what you’d call neutral, but what the heck! I won’t be splitting the pair, by the way. It would be cruel, after all these years! (43″ H – 27″ W)
I’m not sure if I’ll be keeping the rest of the dining chairs yet. Still thinking about staining and recovering or painting the leather seats!
Next. My parents’ lamps. They are pretty glam and 47″ high! I recently replaced the shades, which took off an inch or two!
They are sort of what I’d call Hollywood Regency style. They spent years on end tables, on either end of my parents’ cream velvet sofa. I remember feeling special, sitting in their living room! Why can’t we all just live forever, in perfect health? (I’ve got lots of questions today!)
Even though they certainly qualify as “vintage”, they’re in perfect condition. I’ll be selling these old friends as a pair also, for $225.
Last, but not least, is this antique reproduction chest, made of solid birds eye maple, with a granite top. (48″ W – 35″ H – 21″ D)
We bought it at New York City’s fabulous ABC Carpet and Home. The name sounds so generic, but it’s a must-see Mecca of home decor, if you can ever visit.
Unlike Wayfair, they didn’t offer free shipping!
I’d like to get $650 for this Bombay style chest.
It has just one deep drawer. I can see it working in an entry, guest room or even master bath.
If you like detail, this piece might be for you!
If any of these pieces are of interest, let me know. I’ll be happy to provide any info you might need!
Until we meet again…
I can’t wait to see or hear what you are going to put in the “new” room!
Hi Wanda!, Sorry for the slow reply. The room/house always seems to be on the back burner, but I’m hopeful! Hugs, Barbara
Hello Barbara
Are you sure the chest top isn’t green marble? I have two smaller Bombay chests from the ’60s with what appear to be the exact green marble tops. You have a beautiful chest.
You know, Dee, you are probably right about the stone! At the rate I’m going, I hope to have the room updated by Christmas! Take care, Barbara
