Quick Fix! (Magazine Basket Make-Over)

By Barbara Bussey | September 9, 2012 |

Greetings!, I scoured the antique fair here in Sacramento, today! It’s a monthly event, under the freeway and I always try to go. The only disappointment about today, was that I missed the Karmelkorn concession! I found all sorts of treasures including this little magazine basket. I knew it had possibilities and that the teal green fabric had to go! I came home and got busy with some burlap, muslin remnants, and some old antique lace, left over from a recent project. No wonder I saved all of those bits and pieces of fabric! Have a wonderful day!, Barbara

New Treasures at Veranda Antiques

By Barbara Bussey | September 8, 2012 |

Last time I was at Veranda Antiques, there was a whole lot of “moving and shaking” going on! Tom and Dave have moved their space and it is amazing! Trust me, when I say my top notch photography does not do their space, formerly the kitchen in this cottage, justice! Lora, the high priestess, is in the main room, all re-arranged, as well as the back porch, and everything looks wonderful! As one who loves religious folk art, my eyes were drawn to this piece in the hallway. And if you’d like to upgrade your dining room chairs, these four…

Just like many of you, I’m anxiously awaiting my Miss Mustard Seed’s Milk Paint delivery! Knowing that it won’t be long, I thought I had better open my On-Line Shop and be ready to roll! Banana Sour Dough French Toast

By Barbara Bussey | September 4, 2012 |

Well, here we are. Day 5 of a wonderful week at Lake Tahoe. The weather couldn’t be better. This morning, I’m proud to say that I was quite resourceful, creating a breakfast masterpiece! Is it the mountain air that feeds my voracious appetite? Or it simply a case of the piggies? Either way, it was delicious! Being near the end of our get-away, I had the perfect ingredients on hand. One Serving: One, 1 inch thick piece of sour dough bread 1 egg blended with a fork and two tablespoons of water, because there was no milk. Soak the bread…

A Favorite Childhood Memory

By Barbara Bussey | September 3, 2012 |

Hello there! I’m up at the family house, at Lake Tahoe, for the week. We’ve just said goodbye to the last friends to visit. I love enjoying the company of good friends and I also love sitting back, enjoying the solitude. This is the best of both worlds! Since I have no furniture projects to paint and limited paper crafts to create, now that my glue stick ran dry, I’m writing today about one of my most favorite childhood memories. This is something we could all write about. In fact, I invite you to do this. Being the middle child,…

Happy Labor Day!

By Barbara Bussey | September 2, 2012 |

la·bor day Noun A public holiday or day of festivities held in honor of working people, in the US and Canada on the first Monday in September. If I’m not mistaken, for some time, my dad had my mom convinced that Labor Day was in honor of mothers going through labor, during childbirth! God bless all mothers and God bless our workers and those seeking work!

Dreaming of My Work Shop

By Barbara Bussey | August 31, 2012 |

As the weeks pass, the vision I have for The Treasured Home gets clearer. It’s a slow process, but what’s important to me, is that the vision is as uniquely “mine” as I can possibly manage. I saw this image in my on line adventures and love the table. Mr. Wonderful is going to make a similar table, to use in the back of the shop for a workspace, or place to conduct small crafting classes. The entire look of the room is gorgeous, to me. I also covet the shelving, to hold fabric or other treasures. And how about…

It’s Almost Here! (Miss Mustard Seed Milk Paint)

By Barbara Bussey | August 29, 2012 |

Back in the early days, in my other life, selling food to restaurants, I helped launch a new line of “fresh” sauces. That was back in my pre-children days, when traveling for a job was a new adventure. Now, just 25 years later, I’m so excited to be riding on Marian’s (aka Miss Mustard Seed) coat strings, as she rolls out her milk paint line! The product is in Marian’s hot little hands and she’ll be stocking up Luckett’s, where she sells her treasures, by this time tomorrow. At the same time, shipments are being staged, in the order we…
