When I Was At “The Met”… October 31, 2011

Even though I’ve been to NYC a half dozen times in recent years, I had never been to the beautiful Metropolitan Museum of Art. As the largest art museum in the western hemisphere, this is a place that requires some time in your day, but it’s well worth it!

Where else in the world can you see such amazing talent, history and beauty, in one place?

Not to trivialize the art itself, the frames are works of art, by themselves!

I found “The Master Painters of India” very impressive. Their art was created for religious manuscripts, not to adorn walls or spotlight particular artists. Instead, the pictures themselves, we’re maybe 3×6″ in size and hand held magnifying glasses are provided, so visitors can take a closer look at the magnificent detail.

Our last stop was an exhibit featuring exceptional design in products and furniture pieces for the home.

But, I was a bit surprised to see a Dyson vacuum included in the mix! I’m sure Mr. Dyson was thrilled!

It was a wonderful experience and I look forward to a return visit!
Happy trails!

There is nothing better than time spent at The Met! I have made very few trips to NYC when I don’t stop in, even to see the flower arrangements in the lobby and meet someone for lunch. This museum is such a treasure for all of us. I have a friend who is the 20th Century Curator and once in a while I get a back hallway tour…now that is always an experience. Of course, just sitting on the steps and having a pretzel and watching people go by is a pleasure. I always flash on the movie “Dressed To Kill” with Angie Dickinson and the brilliant scene in the galleries…

This was such a fun post…I really want to return. Love how you captured the details of the framing.
