Re-upholstering a piece of furniture is something I do with a lot of thought, because it’s an expensive process! I can usually visualize what a certain paint finish will look like, but I’m not always as lucky, when it comes to fabric! This was the chair, when I got it. Hard to believe it was the same chair. When it comes to “chippy” milk paint projects, this Davenport Desk, from the 1800’s certainly did what it pleased! Here’s what she looked like before we painted her with MMS Trophy and Grain Sack. We decided to do without the bonding agent (primer), so that it would do its chippy thing, here and there. I don’t know what caused the front panel to chip to the extreme! Local thrift store managers are probably scratching their heads, wondering why there’s this sudden interest in old brass table lamps! Well, here’s the story… Last Thursday night, we had our first Introduction to Furniture Painting class, featuring Amy Howard’s One-Step Paint, using lamps from the thrift store! Does Dad like to play cards? How about this vintage (folding) poker table, that we refinished, using gel stain. We treated the chairs to gel stain as well, along with this fun, manly fabric, for the seat cushions! I don’t know about you, but I don’t need a reminder to “eat”!
