Grace Girl Beads…Hand-Made Jewlery, Plus More News…

By Barbara Bussey | July 7, 2017 |

I love hand made! For so many reasons. There’s always the pride of designing your piece of art, for others to love.  For the maker, there’s a validation, when someone buys and wears something you’ve created. I feel the same way, when someone falls in love with a piece of furniture we’ve rescued and restored.  There’s a sense that the community at large, is supporting our mission. I love hand made, because it’s a unique piece, that only I will wear.  I’m also helping support a human being, instead of a machine.  It’s my way of giving back, to my…

Our Great Adventure, Part 2

By Barbara Bussey | June 12, 2017 |

Hello again! I thought I would share a few more photos and thoughts of our time in France. While we were gone just a week, the days were packed.  Right now, it stays light, later in southern France, than here at home.  Often we didn’t sit down for dinner until 9ish.  No one complained. There was something beautiful to see, around every corner.  What about the ceiling in this bed and breakfast we visited, for a glass of champagne? Or, how about the Venetian mirror?  The prettiest one I’ve ever seen! Big rooms.  Stunning, yet comfortable.  Many of the sofas…

Our Great French Adventure!

By Barbara Bussey | June 9, 2017 |

Greetings, dear people! Jill and I have returned safely, from a week in France, I won’t soon forget! This photo was taken in the gorgeous Luberon region.  The village at the top left corner of the photo, was built on a hilltop, as was done hundreds of years ago, for protection from the enemy. There is charm everywhere, in this country and especially here.  The French have worked hard to maintain the historic architecture of those who came  before them. This photo was taken in the old city of Aix (pronounced “Ex”) en Provence. This is where our group was…

Bonjour, Ma chere!

By Barbara Bussey | May 26, 2017 |

Do I speak French? No, but Siri helps me out from time to time!  Jill and I depart, on our long awaited, whirl-wind buying trip, to Aix en Provence. Besides having the chance to scout out one-of-kind treasures, at the amazing Isle sur la Sorgue market and pop markets in charming little villages, the window boxes and old stone buildings are food for the soul. We’ll do lots of exploring and get to visit the village of Cucuron, where part of the film, The Good Year, was filmed.  While there, we’ll tour a local garden and have a glass of wine…

What a Week!

By Barbara Bussey | May 18, 2017 |

Diane, who has been with me, since nearly the beginning,, had a shower for her daughter recently and it featured a Mimosa Bar, complete with all the trimmings! Diane is the master entertainer/crafter/Pinterest star and volunteered to share her Mimosa Bar talents, here at the shop, Saturday, starting at 10:30! We’ve had a great week so far and we remain the dining table capital of the world.  It’s an honor we’d like to pass on to someone else! Because, you know, once we have space to move everything out of the back room, we can start our remodel/expansion!  So come…

More, from The Treasured Home

By Barbara Bussey | May 11, 2017 |

Hello, Princess! Jill and I enjoyed Liza and her friend, as they created their own, totally unique yard art, this evening.  I have more flower making kits, so stand by for more dates! Monica has shown me some new chemical-free tricks, I’ve incorporated into my laundry and housekeeping arsenal.  I just know that there’s some connection, between the things we use to clean our homes, laundry and bodies, that is causing the sickness we see around us.  Stop by Saturday at 11 a.m., to learn more if you can. Yes, there’s still room to join Saturday’s Paint Your Own Piece…

By Barbara Bussey | May 9, 2017 |

Hello good people!, Well, we wished for sunshine and warm weather and lookey here! We got it!  Still, I’ll still take hot and sunny, over grey and drippy! No?  Nothing happening here, either.  To be fair, they live thousands of miles away.  I’ll report next week on who sent a card and who didn’t! Now, where was I? Upcoming Classes… We have a very busy class calendar this week…

News from The Treasured Home

By Barbara Bussey | April 26, 2017 |

Hello good people! Lots of good things are happening in the shop! I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, if everyone had a paint brush in their hand, we’d have world peace! Do you think I’ve possibly over simplified the situation? Well, anyway, here’s a quick recap… Friend and accomplished artist, Jean Lamoure, had her hands full, Friday night, for the Paint & Sip class.  Thirteen (yes, that’s 13) women had a very good time, re-creating Jean’s masterpiece. We’re hoping we can talk her into another class, before long! I got a chance to visit her home studio…
