Just In Case… July 31, 2012
I know it’s been a little quiet, here at the Treasured Home. But, just in case you’re wondering what’s been going on here, I wanted to share our upcoming spread, for House Beautiful! No? You don’t believe me?! Wouldn’t that have been nice!?
When the time came to bring everything downstairs, for the upstairs flooring installation, all attempts at organization went out the window. In fact, I could have thrown all of our clothing out the window and It would be in no worse shape than it is right now. I had originally intended to buy those rolling clothes racks, over at target. But as you can see, that didn’t happen.
But the family room floors have been refinished nicely.
Now all we need is for the base board fairy to drop by.
The first set of plantation shutters just got installed in my son’s room.
But, let it never be said that our house always looks perfect!
Guess what I’m doing tomorrow! Care to join me? What? No takers?
It’s hard to live with the chaos, but, it will be worth it in the end. I love the refinished floors…they’re gorgeous!
After having lived in a construction zone for a year, my advice: Straighten up at least one room/area and spend your time there–try not to look at the rest. The floors are beautiful and so are the plantation shutters- you’ll be happy you did it when it’s over and the dust has settled.
This is wonderful advice from an expert fixer-upper! Thanks, Patti!
Dear Barbara, Your floors look wonderful and when those base board fairies get done working their magic…….perfection. Just remember the mess is only temporary!!!! Lisa
If you say so! Thanks, Lisa! 🙂
The joy and beauty of hardwood floors is worth any mess. 😉
We’ll get there! Thanks for saying “hi”!
“House Beautiful” would be lucky to have your beautiful home in their magazine. I wish I were close by to help you organize all those clothes by color. OK, I’m just a bit OCD. Love the plantation shutters.
Floors look great! My question to you is…are you putting everything back the way it was?? If it were me, I’m not sure I’d remember what went where!! Have fun!! 😉
Oh boy! You just gave me a little glimpse into what our house will look like next week! Demo of old travertine starts on Monday, and install of new hardwoods starts on Wed. My contractor asked me to take everything off the walls downstairs too, so they wouldn’t knock into anything. All furniture for downstairs and accessories must be moved to 3rd garage. Oh, and the fridge and washer and dyer, :-P~
Your floors look fabulous!! And, I totally empathize with you! UGH…the work, and the mess… and the clean up. I’m tired just looking at it, and I have not even started mine…
It will all look amazing when you get everything back where you want it!
Can’t wait for the pics! Looks lovely so far!
xo-Lisa
whoa, what a mess! Clean that place up, will ya?? The floors and shutters look awesome. I think all you need now is a picture of a big, scary rooster and you will be ready for House Beautiful.
Barbara, What a busy girl you have been! I had a good laugh about the clothes that could have/should have been thrown out the bedroom window! It is so worth it… your floors are gorgeous!
All that disorder is a nice problem to have when the final results include beautifully finished hardwood floors. I’ve been ther so many times…I always think that it’s a good excuse to announce the the kitchen is closed, and we’ll be eating out for the duration of the project. Work it, girl! Cherry Kay
