Christmas In September September 24, 2012
I’m taking a mini vacation from cabinet painting, sine my son will soon be out at sea, on his Naval frigate, with a few hundred of his best buddies, for six months!
So, Mr. Wonderful and I have flown down to San Diego for the weekend to celebrate the “holidays”, before he leaves. His wife, who I adore, had a wonderful idea! Her plan is to decorate their small apartment with little corners each decorated for all the different holidays he’ll be missing, over the next six months.
(Andrew & Jessica, last Christmas)
We brought down a small, pre-lit Christmas tree, along with the “happy birthday” banner our family uses for every birthday. Jessica’s taking care of Halloween and Thanksgiving. Hopefully, it will serve as a special memory, as the holidays pass.
Barbara, this is such a lovely idea! I am sure he will appreciate the gesture! I will keep him and your family in my prayers.
Thanks, Shenita!
What a sweet idea but how hard for them to be apart!
Thanks, his wife is in her first year of law school and I know that will keep her busy. I know it won’t be easy for my son. At least he won’t be carrying a gun, like others out there. That must be so, so hard…especially for parents!
Would have never thought of that, but such a sweet idea. Thinking of you all…
My DIL is so thoughtful. I’m lucky to love her as I do!
That is such a great idea….I know your son will appreciate all the love and thoughtfulness! 😉
He gets home at noon today and has nine days before he’s deployed, some hope he’s surprised!
What a sweet idea. I know you must be so proud of your son! Enjoy the holidays 😀
xo,
Ricki Jill

Thank you Andrew for your service, and Jessica take the time to breath and best of Luck. Mom yu should be proud, it takes special people to do the job they do….most ships have a few of those crazy marines on board…I understand all to well the seperation at special times of the year…my son was one of those crazy guys, even though he was ground support for their aviation…since 2001 he was very busy..may you and yours be safe.
Our kids are pretty cool, eh? I just keep praying for an end to this war!
