Why didn’t I think of that? (Gypsy Chic Vintage Market)

By Barbara Bussey | March 24, 2013 |

My small tribe of scavengers, set off for the darling town of Lincoln, this morning, in search of treasures. We had heard about the Gypsy Chic Vintage Market, in downtown Lincoln. Nancy, the owner, refers to it as a monthly “pop-up” antique show, that’s open one long weekend (4 days) a month! There are about twenty vendors that share the space. What a fabulous idea! It’s in a cool old building, on the main drag in Lincoln. If you are not familiar with Lincoln, it’s a small town with a vibrant downtown area, and it reminds me of Mayberry! I…

Candid Camera! Painting Class Photo Collages

By Barbara Bussey | March 21, 2013 |

Hello Darling! (I hope it’s OK that I call you “darling”, since I call most everyone “darling” or “sweetheart”!) For some reason, it bugs me when someone, particularly a man, other than Mr. Wonderful, calls me “honey”, so go figure! Are you too young to remember Loretta Young? I think she called people “darling”! I was about six, when her show would come on. If memory serves me right, she wore circular skirts and would twirl around, at the shows entrance. Of course, I tried to copy her! But, again, I digress! The brains behind my blog, Ann Marie, created…

Gwen Moss Was Here!

By Barbara Bussey | March 20, 2013 |

Do you know Gwen Moss, the blog written by the lovely, smart and multi-talented Leslie Harris? No? Well, I hope you find an extra few minutes to wander her way! Leslie is an energetic woman who, from my vantage point, never stops learning. She’s not afraid of risk or change. I believe I read that she practiced for years as a psycho therapist! That translates into “way smart” in my dictionary! She’s a wonderful writer, a student of life, that speaks from the heart, about mothering, decorating, entertaining and life’s challenges. (Do “entertaining” and “life’s challenges” go hand in hand…

Deal-O-Rama! New Door Panels!

By Barbara Bussey | March 17, 2013 |

March 15th, 12:03 p.m. Jini, “shopper extroidenaire” and dear friend, sent out an urgent message from Marshall’s! “Two, 8′ wooden door panels, $50 each!” She thought that this might be something that my customers might be interested in. I declined at first, saying that my shop and storage spaces are filled to the brim. Then after further consideration, I started to think about where I could use these beautiful panels at our home. Before you knew it, Mr. Wonderful and I were wrapping up “date night”, at Marshall’s! I am sure he was thrilled! What a trooper he is! Thank…

What’s In Your Garage? (Painting Projects!)

By Barbara Bussey | March 10, 2013 |

The rumor is, that many people use their garages for cars. We lost that memo. This is Mr. Wonderful’s version of a “man cave”. As long as there’s a TV to watch sports, life is good! I don’t know what I’d do without him! After some repair work, this is going to be a beautiful piece. I love anything with curves! You may remember how I once said that I would never strip any piece of furniture again, as long as I lived. Well, this is another reason why you should never say “never”!I love the lines of these two…

Today’s Miss Mustard Seed Milk Paint Class

By Barbara Bussey | March 3, 2013 |

So, what did you do today? I hope it was a relaxing, feel good kind of day for you! Guess what we did? We had a painting class today, featuring Miss Mustard Seed Milk Paint. Surprised, huh? This was our first 3-hour milk paint class. Lots of firsts, lately! Six antique dealers from Lodi, a farm community, south of Sacramento, came for a special class, just for their group. These women were so fun…and a little bit crazy…but that’s all the better! I introduced them to the world of Rub ‘n Buff and Glacage. They were on cloud nine! It…
