A Weekend for Scavengers June 10, 2012
Greetings dear friends!,
How was your weekend? Wonderful, I hope!
Are you the kind of person who loves a weekend filled with adventure, friendly people, creative exposure and kettle corn? Yep, I am!
Every town, worth living in, has an antique fair. I don’t know why it took me so long to discover ours, downtown on the second Sunday each month. It’s an absolute blast! Today was no exception.
Let me show you my winner of “Most Clever Use Of A Cookie Sheet” Award.
You want a stainless steel table top? Will you settle for aluminum? Actually, it’s very cute!
I don’t know if it’s my imagination or not, but the vendors seem to be moving it up a notch in the presentation department! Always fun to see what all these clever people have up their sleeve.
Let me show you what will be heading to Veranda Antiques soon!
This old, round, gold leaf mirror is fabulous! It’s 34 inches in diameter and the frame is exquisite, although it is very fragile. Have you ever restored or repaired a gold leaf frame before? Any tips would be appreciated!
I thought that this vintage cosmetic case was pretty cute and love the color of the amber glass.
This sweet little aqua footstool, is today’s paint job. I found at a market I went to last weekend. On the bottom it is signed by the creator! Anyone you know?
Of course, there was no way I could paint over his signature! Looks like it was a high school woodshop project, as earlier suspected. Believe me, I still have plenty of pieces that need painting!
One item, that I just love, will probably not be finding it’s way to Veranda. This beautiful silver plate tray stole my heart! (not really, Mr. Wonderful!)
It has pretty little handles, and while I am not sure, I’m guessing/hoping that’s a “B” engraved in the center.
Surprise, surprise! I also made a couple of new pillows, with my old French ticking! I’ll share those with you tomorrow!
Until then,
Barbara
Great mirror and I love that silver tray. Such a great shape and size.
I love everything you saw and bought but especially the tray. How could you possibly pass it up when it had your name on it. Well, it was you initial, but still it just called to you. Loved the little overnight case too. I would have bought that without question.
Hi Barbara,
Thanks for stopping by our site.. Love your blog and I WISH I had been antiquing last weekend. Maybe in the near future when we’re on vacation. Your blog is great, and love your neat header and format!

Looks like a “B” to me, and I noticed one of the displays at the antiques fair stole your rolled cone wreath idea! 🙂
I am CONSTANTLY amazed at how clever people are – I cannot get over the tray on top of the table!!!
