Hi End, Low End… New York October 17, 2012
Well, We just wrapped up another day, walking the streets of Manhattan. I’ve taken my partner in crime in all directions. Yesterday he opted out of shopping at the Salvation Army Thrift store.
Smart man!
I had heard that this shop had a great selection, thanks to Mr. Goodwill Hunting, on the Nate Burkas show. I thought “what the heck!”. I thought I might find a few interesting “smalls” that I could stuff into my suitcase.
Not!
They had these pictures on the wall for entertainment purposes, as you walked up to the third floor of this old warehouse. Once there, I was sad to find that nothing could save this place but a good fire!
Well, today we saw the other side of New York, strolling the upper East side. This is where you find every high-end designer, known to mankind. Did I stop in at Ralph Lauren? Negative! I’m too practical, I suppose. Even if I had money to burn, I just can’t see spending $1200 on a pair of slacks.
You’ll be happy to know, that I did find a purse cart (!) at the corner of East 62nd and Madison Avenue with really nice purses! The gentleman was kind enough to give me a small discount, taking the last $48 in cash that I had to spare. But look at the pretty leather purse I snagged!
This is no ordinary purse cart! This fellow has custom printed shopping bags for the purses he sells! What a riot!
We’ll soon be heading To one of my favorite restaurants here, to sit at the counter for dinner.
It’s just across the street, from Carnegie Hall, where tonight we are seeing the Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain! Should be a kick!
Besides, it’s my birthday! Thank you, God, for my health and good fortune and the wonderful people in my life! Bless you all!
Happiest of Birthdays Barbara….you are in the place where many wishes will come true. xxx
