Annie’s Home & Garden October 3, 2011
I visited a friend’s amazingly unique home and garden today and asked if it would be all right if I took pictures for my blog. She said fine, as long as I kept it anonymous. So, respecting her wishes, I have re-named her Annie, short for Anonymous.
Annie is a World Traveler (capitalized because it is such a big part of who she is) and has brought bits and pieces of her travels back home with her. She has a never ending thirst for knowledge and can name the Indian tribe, the city, artist, time and place of origin for each piece in her home. It’s like a museum of Annie’s life and in direct contrast to my (more often than not) “less is more” approach to design. But it’s fascinating! Her favorite line is “More is never enough”, which explains Annie’s home perfectly.
So, let’s get started. I hope you enjoy the visit as much as I did! We’ll start outdoors…
This is an old iron bed frame, covered in plants. The sign on the headboard is in French, but I believe it says, “May you sleep with angels.”
Aren’t these raised beds wonderful? I love the color!
Her grandson is playing rugby in high school, but there are bits and pieces of his childhood history around the home.
Annie says that she got this sign from a “pot” shop that was discovered and shut down!
Now, let’s wander inside for a bit more…
These are Annie’s version of African dancing sticks! She saw something similar used by dancers in Africa, and came home to make her very own, from a neighbor’s bamboo forest!
Those are her grandson’s rubber boots from when he was a toddler. Pretty sweet!
Well, these are Annie’s delightful treasures. As you might imagine, there’s so much more and all with a fascinating story attached. Thank you for sharing your amazing home with us, Annie! It was a real treat!
Oooo, love that garden. I love those raincatchers, and all the qwirky garden art, too! Beautiful. Thanks for sharing Barb! That gnome on the swing is tooo funny! 🙂
Thanks for stopping by! Yes, it’s great! Wish you could have seen it in person the (blurry) pictures don’t do it justice!
So many thoughts on this post. What a wonderful world she has created for her life story. I came away thinking this gal is just totally content in her garden
Yes, it’s clear to me that she gets loads of satisfaction out of it all.
