Shopping for the Shop August 26, 2012
I was happy to hear that my hot pink desk set has found a new home!
In a color like hot pink, you never know if someone else will love it as much as you do!
A few of my gift show orders have come in and I placed another order today! Sort of like Christmas!
I’ve chosen paint colors for the shop, in the greige and mossy green tones. Bob started building a craft “island”, with wheels for the shop. There’s lots to do!
We went to mass last night, instead of this morning. I had a hard time getting to sleep last night. I ended up on the couch, because I hate messing up the guest sheets! Besides we have the comfiest couch. I have so much on my mind these days, thinking about what I need to do.
I went to a couple of estate sales today. The advantage of going on the last day of the sale is that you can get a great price. The disadvantage of going on the last day is that nothing is there! Today I went into a little house that had belonged to a very old couple. It was almost sad to see the dust that had layered upon itself in places. Not because dust is offensive, but because for whatever reason, it was no longer an issue. Eye sight, mobility, energy…you know what I mean. I saw that happen with my dad. This was a man who never allowed dirt to exist in his home. When he lost his eyesight, it was no longer a big deal.
On to more upbeat subjects, like shopping!
At another spot, I found this hydrangea sculpture/candle holder. I could find a spot for this in our home somewhere. And that’s a rule I have when purchasing something. Would I want “it” in our home?
I also found these sweet silver plate pieces.
This little pitcher is monogrammed. You probably can’t see it in this picture, but that always wins extra points for me.
Now, if you thought you were going to get through this post without a little blue and white going on, here you go, my latest wreath creation!
I cut the bow a little bit shorter, after this photo was taken. I used a paper punch to make holes in the fabric so I could weave it in to the wreath with the burlap.
Well, that’s all the fab stuff going on here. The cupboards are bare. Bob’s volunteering at a Kawanas Club event and is in charge of hunting down dinner. In the mean time, I’m having two bags of …
Have you tried this stuff? At only 65 cal per bag, I figure I can have about 12 bags and still be in good shape!
Blessings!,
Barbara
Love the addition of color to your burlap wreath. And you managed to pick up some nice treasures. Now as to your sleep problem, have a glass of wine before bedtime! That’s all I got! 😉
I love the pink table and chairs – can you tell me the color and the process? It looks like enamel? Thanks – love your posts!!
Sure, Diane,
We used a water based latex semi gloss, by Dun Edwards. I can get the color for you. What made it extra smooth was that it was sprayed, using a HVLP sprayer. That way, there are no brush strokes. Also, we let it “cure” for a few weeks before setting anything on top of it.
Thanks Barbara!
Your burlap wreath with the pop of color is cute. I’m thinking a set of these would be fun to hang in the French doors that go across our sun room. Thanks for the inspiration. Now, to get me moving to actually make these. 😉
Love, love the desk set! Your other finds are wonderful for the shop! I really like the idea of weaving various fabrics through with the burlap and embellishing the bow!

Can’t wait to see all of your goodies. I would SO love to come visit your shop. One day. Who knows, right? 🙂 xxoo
There’s always room for you and the hubs, here at the inn! You and I are both anxious to see what ends up at the shop! Yikes!
love the wreath…I was so excited when bliss pinned my star wreath…So many things to do and here I am cleaning my email and blog hop as I have your blogposts emailed to me….love and I need to look, where is your shop….have a good tuesday
Well, we ALL know that drill…getting sidetracked by the least important (but most fun) things around the house. I had this discussion with Bob just yesterday! The shop won’t open for two months and it will be here in the Sacramento area!
Barbara…does that pitcher have an “S” on it…?….Is it screaming my name?….Love it and love the wreath…so glad the desk found a great home!
