Monogrammed Pillow Tutorial June 1, 2012

Oh my gosh! Wait ’til you see this! Last week, when I was going to mass produce beautiful custom painted tea towels, that turned into a craft-disaster, the project went bust and I was left with 13 plain, white cotton (Wall Mart flour sack) tea towels.

Well…drum roll please…tonight I turned two of those $1 towels, plus a vintage monogrammed hand towel into a gorgeous pillow!

I had been in a crafter’s slump after the tea towel incident, but now, I’m dancing the Mashed Potato! (You remember that one? No?)

It’s a pocket pillow, that anyone can make, with a 4″ overlap. First though, I carefully sewed the piece of hand towel onto the front panel. There’s lots of give in loose cotton weaves, so you have to measure, pin, measure and double check. At least I did. As carpenters say, measure twice, cut once.

I’m already thinking about what I can do with my remaining 11 tea towels!

Well, I had better get in my jammies and get a good night’s sleep. I hear the hidden restoration projects treasure’s calling my name! There’s a flea market fund raiser in town tomorrow. Gotta be prepared!

Sweet dreams!,
Barbara

That pillow is just beautiful. I am sooo going to make one. Just this week, in my never ending task to be better organized, I found some lace that my grandmother crocheted. I haven’t used it to monogram in a while but my sewing machine will do that. On another note, I bet Mr. Wonderful loves having another pillow on the bed just as Mr. Bird Nest does.
