Square Cookies September 4, 2019

Hello again. It’s me! I hope you’re well!

I’ve been enjoying a working vacation, up at the lake.  I get so much done, when I step away from the shop.  It’s so much easier to focus and brain storm!

Once I walk through the shop door, I scoot from one thing to another, never looking at my to-do list. I love being there, but I know that I have to have a balance.  Trust me though when I say that I never stop thinking about the Shop!

Between thrift shopping and the grocery store, I made some square cookies today.  It is my world famous (at least to my family) chocolate chip cookie recipe.  They turned out square, just because I made them too big.

[one-sixth-first][/one-sixth-first][one-sixth][/one-sixth][one-sixth][/one-sixth][one-sixth][/one-sixth][one-sixth][/one-sixth][one-sixth][/one-sixth]

They aren’t real pretty, being square, but they’re so good!  And nothing cooks the same at altitude, but that’s ok.

Here’s what I do to create my world famous cookies:

Using the Toll House recipe on the back of the chocolate chip package, I make a couple of adjustments…  I reduce the flower to 1 and 3/4 cups.  Then I add 1 and 1/2 cups of Quaker Oats, 1 cup of coconut flakes and one cup of chocolate chips.  Try it some time.  You’ll become world famous too, at least to your family and friends!

This morning, after about 10 hours of beauty sleep, I was going to paint a mirror frame, found in my travels. I got as far as a good cleaning and got stuck with keeping it as-is, or painting it.  Mr. Wonderful says he thinks it looks too formal, so tomorrow I’m going to lighten it up.  Stay tuned for the results!

Then, my artist friend, who’s downsizing, asked me to sell a few paintings.  I decided to tinker with the frames a bit.  With Fusion’s clear glaze ( 80%) and Fusion paint in the color Ash (20%) I updated the frames.

Everytime I use glaze, I ask myself why I don’t use it more often!  It makes such a difference!

We  were blessed to have the kids visit over the Labor Day weekend!  It was wonderful to see them and hear their laughter!

When I wasn’t working on computer stuff today, I visited a favorite shop in Tahoe City, Hemings and Jarret.  Always a treat!  I picked up some fall faux foliage, for my party tree, that becomes a Christmas tree, in December.

I scored the metal stand and bucket from Pat Bosley, one of our wonderful vendors!

This evening, while waiting for Mr. Wonderful to return from Sacramento, I snapped a picture of this sail boat, passing by.  It just looked so peaceful, catching some of the setting sun.

Well darlin’, that’s all of the excitement I have to share with you this evening.  It’s all good! Take care!

Enjoyed your post Barbara. Just wanted to say I love the photo you took! (I’m a photographer.) Everything in the frame is muted and the white sail boat stands out like a ‘ghost ship’! Love it! I will definitely try that cookie recipe!
