My parent’s T.V. chairs October 24, 2015
Don’t talk to me about habit. Yes, I sit in one spot and Mr. Wonderful sits in another. Predetermined.
My parents had the same routine. Especially, while enjoying Jeopardy, Wheel of Fortune and Fox News.
I was happy when my little sister, who had inherited these cained back sweethearts, gave them to me for my birthday. Springs were gone and they needed some serious love!
The product of choice was General Finishes’ Gel Stain, in Java.
While we paint so much of the furniture that comes into our shop, I didn’t think that was the right choice for these chairs. One of the most popular brands we carry is a gel stain from General Finishes.
Once cleaned, both of these chairs were stained in Java. Incredibly simple. Just clean with a degrease and then apply the gel stain. Work in small areas, one at a time. After 48 hours, apply a poly acrylic that we carry here at the shop. You can even update a whole kitchen, with this product line, for less than $200.
We hav a simple hand out, to give with each sale. Easy to follow…great Results!
What a great way to update those chairs…and still pay homage to their memory! We are creatures of habit, aren’t we? I noticed when 2 of my sons came over to watch a football game yesterday…they sat in the same places they used to sit, oh so many years ago! I hope you’ll include a pic after you’ve replaced the seats! 😉
Thanks, dear. Good to hear from you! Hugs, Barbara
What a great find! I like the dark coat and waiting for the final result.
These are lovely chairs. I hope that you will share the finished product when they are re-covered!
Thanks Trina! Stay tuned for the finished product!
Wow, the chairs look great! I have my mom’s old Lane cedar chest that needs some TLC and this product sounds like it’s just the thing I need.
