Cabinet Hardware, the Finishing Touch June 23, 2011
We’ve lived in our home for nine years now and I’m slowly adding cabinet hardware, to the many unadorned cabinets doors and drawers. I’m sure the previous owners built the house that way, in an effort to save money. But, pulls and knobs are beautiful as well as functional. They’re sort of like wearing the right earrings to compliment the perfect outfit. It’s just a shame to go without!
Today, there are more hardware choices than ever before. And since most bathrooms don’t have a ton of cabinets, it’s easier to afford spending a bit more, to achieve a more “custom” look.
A few months ago, I shopped at Anthropology, and found these beautiful knobs and pulls. They were a bit pricey, at $8 and $12 each, but they’re unique and beautiful.
Some people think that everything in a bath and kitchen need to match. I’m not one of those people. In our master bath, you’ll see polished brass faucets (which is trying to make a come-back) with antique brass cabinet hardware and oiled bronze light fixtures. Yet, it works!
Tomorrow, I’ll show you the kids’ old bathroom and how I’ve mixed hardware there. Sort of gives you a reason to get up in the morning, eh?
From the Dallas airport, where our flights been delayed 4 hours because of weather in New York, happy Thursday!
