This Week, at The Treasured Home August 30, 2013
Hello friends!,
It’s been a week that just flew by! I’ll be working at the shop Saturday and Sunday, and Patti held down the fort today, so I could go treasure hunting!
Mr. Wonderful and I had a fun date tonight. Dinner and a show! I love a good movie and this is one you should see!
Great “brush up” on civil rights history. Oprah has a lead part and does an excellent job in her role. I was only 9 or 10 when “rules” were being questioned. I’m reminded that every generation has its challenges! See the movie, if you can!
Monday, I had some girlfriends over for lunch. I enjoy setting a pretty table, bring out the linen and crystal.
It was great to catch up with everyone! I love my shop, but miss friend-time! With my new hours, starting Sunday, I’ll be open Thursday through Sunday, and will have more friend time!
Sunday, I took a really boring wall (above) and lined the wall with vintage fabric scraps and burlap. It gives me a bit more wall space and turned out great, thanks to my staple gun!
Tuesday, I transformed a vintage ladder back chair, with help from Miss Mustard Seed’s Milk Paint!, in Typewriter!
One coat (no bonding agent and no distressing!) later, I added hemp oil and voila! New chair!
I may do things a little/lot fast and yesterday served up a perfect example!
As I said on Facebook, “elas” must be French for Sale!, going through Sunday, with additional mark-downs! Even paint and painting supplies are 10% off! On-line paint customers always get free shipping!
As always, thanks so much, for being here!
Hi! I’m really glad you are going to take some time for yourself! I love what you did with that chair…I’m a sucker for a rush chair! Enjoy your weekend! 😉
Thanks, princess! I hope it’s busy at the shop. Wish I could “zap” you on over!
Love the chair, actually love it all. May I ask what the color/finish was on the chair? I can’t tell by my monitor, is a little of the orginal peeking through on the chair? And have you tried the hemp oil on the ligher paint colors, eithe MMS milkpaint or AS chalk paint?
Hi Dee,
It’s miss Mustard Seeds Milk Paint. One coat, hence the see through spots. Once dried, I wiped down with hemp oil, after a light sanding.
So easy!,
Barbara
What a great way to add texture and interest to a wall! Thanks so much for the inspiration!
Happy day to you!
karianne
I don’t know how you find the time, but I’m honored to have “the” Thistle-Girl, visit my blog!
Cheers!,
Barbara
