Spring is here and we’re ready! April 8, 2024
Hello, darling!
I’m writing to you on Monday, during what appears to be an unimpressive solar eclipse. At least here in California! Are you in a part of the country, where it was more memorable? My sister-in-law, in Texas, had an amazing black-out!
In other news, I attended a family baby shower on Saturday. What a beautiful event and the day was gorgeous! Two weekends in a row, to visit my sisters. 🙂
Back at the shop…
I was so happy to see all of you who wanted to learn all about Iron Orchid Designs’ Paint Inlays! Now, you’re probably all saying, “that wasn’t so hard!” Cheryl taught the class, while I was at the shower and as usual, she did a wonderful job! You can see all off the inlays, here online at www.thetreasuredhome.com.
Lynne Brundage inspired this project, using one of I.O.D,’s newest transfers, Collage de Fleurs. I found a canvas at good old Good Will and painted it black. Then I sketched out the base and flower bowl. Using I.O.D.’s Ocean Blue ink, I stamped the bowl, painted white. My drawing skills are limited, but adding a stamp to the base platform added a bit of interest.
Then I started adding flowers from the top, down. Starting at the top allowed me to make it look more 3-dimensional.
Check out the butterflies! I learned this cool technique from the Iron Orchid Designs’ Facebook page and wish I could give the creator credit! Essentially, you transfer the butterflies onto card stock, cut them out and paint the back gold. Then you fold along the spine and hot glue the spine to the canvas. I just love it! We’ll be making butterflies like this at Makers Day, April 27th.
Speaking of Makers Day…
We have just four spots left for this all day event, that includes refreshments and a catered lunch, for $149.00. If you can join us, click here!
New Toppers have arrived…
And, I love these 2 x 3’ floor mats, that are machine washable. Yes, please!
Plus…
New linen arrives today, in our Boutique. We love linen and more’s on the way. It always looks elegant…wrinkles or not!
These fun, denim trimmed “kimonos” arrived last week. They’re light weight and lots of fun!
I’m loving these life-like “real touch” tulips!
Need a pretty vintage side chair? The dogs love it!
Did you know you can take any of our natural hides home, for a 48-hour test run? We’re confident you’ll love them, so take a walk on the wild side!
Well, kids…
I’ll be leaving early Tuesday morning, to visit my grandson. It’s been way too long and I’ll be sure to share pictures. The little guy is growing!
Until our paths cross again, may God bless you and keep you!
XO, Barbara
