Milk Painted Empire Dresser August 5, 2014
Mable, is this week’s milk paint “masterpiece”. I use the term masterpiece lightly, because my milk paint projects are never perfect. Milk paint has its quirks. Heck, so do I! But I love it just the same.
I thought “Mable” was a fitting name for this old girl, because like the Empire dressers I’ve known, have all been sturdy, yet stylish.
Marian, aka: Miss Mustard Seed, painted this beautiful Empire dresser, just as she got her milk paint line rolling. Another beauty!
In fact, the very first piece I ever painted with milk paint, was an Empire dresser, which I can’t find a picture of. Figures!
Back to Mable, she may look serious and all business, but she’s got a surprise inside!
This is a new Amy Howard One-Step Color, called Get In Gear, that I love!
She smooth and silky, thanks to wet sanding with hemp oil, followed by furniture polish. Isn’t she pretty!?
New! Each Thursday, we’ll be opening the shop’s studio to any of you who have taken a furniture painting class at The Treasured Home and need a little Paint Therapy! Starting August 7th, and every Thursday, there after, until the end of time, from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m., you’ll be able to drop in, for an hour or four, with a small piece of furniture, to paint! For $25.00/hour, our complete line of paints and waxes will be at your finger tips and we’ll be on hand, should you need assistance! This is not a class, but a loosely structured “support group”! (Be sure to bring your own brush, or buy one at the store.)
P.S: I attempted to link up to Savvy Southern Style’s Wow Us Wednesday!
Barbara, make that a good link to my blog and it will work. It isn’t linked.
I would smile every time I opened a drawer. Beautiful!
Thanks, Dorothy! I love the beautiful bright colors, but feel much safer, tucking them inside, rather than out. 🙂
