Flea Markets of NYC…watch out! June 21, 2011
Just like millions of us, I love New York City! You can find anything “under the sun” there and the people you meet along the way are half the fun! Thanks to our daughter, who’s been accepted to West Point, about an hour from the city, I plan to visit even more often!
I head to NYC Thursday morning, brighter and earlier than I care to think about right now. On one of our recent visits, we visited a small flea market in Brooklyn, located in a neighborhood school yard. While the sale merchandise was a bit “iffy”, the food we purchased was delicious!
This weekend, I’ll be checking out the Upper West Side’s Green Flea Market, a year ’round market at 77th and Columbus. They’re supposed to have an amazing array of vintage collectables, antiques, antique maps and lighting. If you’re from out of the area, they can even arrange shipping…yippee! Although I’m not going with anything specifically in mind, one has to have options!
If time allows, I hope to reach the Hell’s Kitchen Flea Market, on West 39th, between 9th and 10th. I’m told to be sure and come hungry, because there’s a Gourmet Food Truck Bazaar located in the heart of the market! Once properly fed, I plan to check out everything from Tibetan hats and scarves to vintage cameras.
If there’s something you’re in search of, let me know and I’ll keep my eyes “peeled” and send you a photo of whatever I find!
Are you a flea market regular?
Your blog makes me want to visit New York just to go to the Flea markets. Very fun read!
Just flew in from W Palm Beach and spending a week in the city doing a design job and am so grateful for the reminder of things to do…especially
a good flea market. Oh happy day dear scavenger! Enjoy!
Oh, the life!
Can I come with you? sounds like an amazingly fun time!
Do tell us how it went!
I certainly will…stay tuned!
