A Boating Adventure on the Baja Coast November 26, 2011
Hello dear friends! I returned late Wednesday night from an adventure I’ll never forget!
My younger brother…my only brother…invited his four sisters to join him on a boating caravan, more than six months ago. I was amazed and happy, when all four sisters accepted his generous invitation to travel from San Diego, stopping in Ensenada, Cabo San Lucas, La Paz and many ports, in-between.
Our brother/captain, showed us the ropes and before you knew it, we were sharing watch duty, keeping on course.
Sunrise and sunset was usually an amazing spectacle of nature. I saw a half dozen dolphins swimming at the bow of the ship one morning and on another day whales offered us a show. I saw seals, sea lions and flying fish. It was like “National Geographic”, live!
My sister, Susan was our chef, more often than not. This was our first breakfast she created and it was delicious! Thank you, Susan!
These rock formations were photographed in Cabo San Lucas, on our was to a beach, for a game of bocce ball. I had never played before, but it’s a lot of fun!
Just prior to leaving on November 7th, I got the brilliant idea to have my hair lightened. I told my color person I wanted to go really light, like the talk show host, Ellen. I had never gone that light and learned that it was “Mission Impossible”! I ended up looking more like the comedian “Carrot Top” instead! I’d like to put a bag over my head, but visibility is poor. I’m hoping to remedy the situation this coming week. Wish me luck,
Overall, we got along well and shared lots of laughs. My brother was on his best behavior and I’m sure he was glad to finally have peace in his life again, without us!
Our taxi ride to the airport in La Paz was another adventure. With temp’s in the 90’s, I was sad to learn that the air conditioner wasn’t working and every time our taxi mini van went over a bump, we scraped bottom. As you can tell, we weren’t at our best!
That’s Carolyn, Marianne and me, behind the driver. John and his girlfriend, Caroline, who joined us in Cabo, sat in the far back, with some luggage. True luxury! Susan sat up front and practiced her rusty Spanish with the driver. Thankfully, we all made our connecting flights, in Los Angeles, with only seconds to spare! Mr. Wonderful and Wonder-Dog, met us at the airport, with flowers and a wonderful hug! I wouldn’t have missed the trip for anything, but I’m glad to be home!
