Gold Leaf Projects January 3, 2014
After I finished my class project, the laurel wreath, in gold leaf, I was ready to tackle the world!
I found this decorative to finial this week, and thought I would give it a new look. It’s made of resin and was super shiny when I found it. Not-no-more!
I will apply gold leaf to the raised area at the base, today at the shop. Then I will wax and distress it. I think it’s going to look like a million bucks! Stay tuned!
While on my gold leafing binge, I decided to give this small table a little extra bling!
If you haven’t done gilding before, you are always supposed to start with a base coat of bole, which is the rusty finish you see taped off.
Starting this coming Wednesday, January 8th, I will be doing free demonstrations at 1 p.m., covering different furniture painting finishes and techniques. Register here, on line.
We also have an Introduction to Furniture Painting class scheduled for Saturday, January 15th. It’s a 3 hour class, for $95.00.
You can sign up here, online, or at the shop. I hope you’ll join us!
If you’re in the neighborhood, stop by and see the gold leafing, going on, today at the shop!
Oh, goodie! Now you are talking.
Love a little gold leafin’! 😉
Whas your opinion of Amy Howard paint lovin the gold leave
So far, so good. Maison Blanche is a great paint as well, but $10 a quart more. I love playing with all the Amy Howard products and management seems very sharp and committed.
