New Custom Pillow Series, Honoring “Tangerine Tango”, Pantone’s Color of the Year for 2012 March 5, 2012
In honor of Pantone’s Color of the Year, for 2012, (yes, I’m a bit late on this!) Tangerine Tango, I thought it would be appropriate to start my series of custom pillows for the year in just such a color palette.
Well, in all honesty, my fabrics are probably leaning more toward red, than Tangerine, but my heart was in the right place! The large, 20 x 20″ pillows and 11×15 pillows (great for lumbar support) will both be sold with feather/down inserts. I tried to get away with “down like” (yes, that’s actually what the manufacturer calls them) poly-filled inserts in the first pillow series, but there’s really nothing down-like about them! Nothing can replace the look or feel of feather/down pillows!
While I selected the fabrics, I turned to a professional seamstress, Trish, at Cottage by Design, here in California, to do the actual sewing. Yes, I tried making the kind of quality pillow, people would actually pay good money for, without success! Thanks to Trish, I’ll be able to offer a pillow I can actually be proud to sell.
I love the textured look of this fun floral. The actual fabric is really quite soft. Who wants to lean up against a scratchy pillow? No offense, but burlap pillows? I don’t understand that trend.
I really like the color variations in this fabric. Sort of a floral on Ikat. Sort of!
Well, there you have it. Prices for this grouping are from $34-$49, which should be quite
competitively priced, for similar quality. While the pillows are currently available only at Veranda, I will be selling them on-line, before long. Woo-hoo!
My linens and animal prints should be back from the seamstress, by the time I return from NYC,
next week. Those are going to be gorgeous! Stay tuned! The switchboard will be taking your orders (just kidding!) so get ’em while they’re hot!
We leave for the airport, under the veil of darkness, at 4 a.m. tomorrow! (ugh!) We’ll spend a few days in Manhattan, seeing “War Horse” on Broadway and walking the neighborhoods…hopefully walking off all the extra calories! Then, we’ll take about a 2-hour drive up to Westpoint, for Plebe Parent Weekend and to see our daughter, Betsy! Haven’t seen her since Christmas, so I can’t wait!
Until we meet again…be well!
